The impact that education radio can have on developing literacy is huge. At the end of every show we have an End of the Show Show where all of the mics are opened up to have a chat about the topic of the day. In this show, the focus was on what we enjoy about broadcasting and featured a team of 8, 9 an 10 year old boys who have all benefited from broadcasting, script writing and working together on live shows to gain confidence and self esteem in their own writing, speaking and listening. Here's another chance to listen to some outstanding broadcasting from our Word on the Street team who get better every week. With two new hosts, great scripting, off-script chat and a new radio riddle, this group of boys are growing in confidence and demonstrating great impact in their literacy through the use of education radio.

This week's Westwood Talk looks back on Science week in school, including the explorer dome and fun that everyone had. Plus, I visited BBC Wiltshire to review the papers with Ben Prater on air and we have all the news from around the classes.

Our radio club broadcasters were together again for another session, learning and practising the art of education radio. Once again they were SO good that we recorded our training session. Everyone took turns to present what they enjoyed about our fabulous science week that has just taken place. Well done everyone!

Today it was the turn of Group 2 to present their very first Friday Show and what a fantastic show they put together. With outstanding scripts, new features and excellent microphone technique, this was a slick and professional show from a group working together for the first time. Hosted professionally by Luke, this show is another example of the power of education radio.

The WOTS boys are back with their best show yet! Great hosting from Spike and Josh, slick presenting, plenty of off-script banter and well written features. You can hear the confidence grow as the show progresses and this is one you will definitely want to listen again to.

This week's episode looks back again on another exciting week at Westwood with Iford Primary, including food tasting, making Mayan masks and our Reception children staying for lunch. Plus, lots of exciting radio news, ways to listen via apps and looking ahead to next week's science week!

In this episode we have our very first radio club session of the year. With children from as young as Year 2 up to one Year 6 child, almost everyone was learning new skills and broadcasting technique for the very first time. As a practice we recorded a mini show - no scripts, no rehearsal, all presented from our own experiences. This deserves a listen for the professionalism shown by these very young people!

Today our first Friday show team took to the mic and what a broadcast they put together! For most of them it was their very first time broadcasting live, but from the very beginning to the end there was such confidence, energy and enthusiasm in the studio, it was a joy to watch. Bringing the usual mix of top stories and features, including our new addition 'What was the Year?', everyone should feel extremely proud of today.

The boys are back with another cracking broadcast and two new hosts. Josh and Spike took control of the show wonderfully and hosted with professionalism as we introduced a new feature 'Radio Riddles', as well as a mix of great stories, information and music.

Westwood Talk is back with everything you need to keep in touch with the busy week at our school. From class news to all of the new work carried out over the summer, as well as updates on Westwood Radio, this half hour is packed with information to keep you fully in the loop about our wonderful school.

The boys are back with their very first, and Westwood Radio's very first broadcast of 2018-19. With top presenting from the get go as we welcomed Ollie, our newest member of the team, everyone was excited to be back in the studio broadcasting their own scripts to the world.

It is with mixed emotions that I post this last breakfast show, and indeed, last show of the year. These children have been simply outstanding and have come so far, giving commitment and energy every Monday morning to our breakfast shows to make great radio. This morning was the best of them and they took over the studio. I listened in my office and felt so proud. It is also with sadness as we say goodbye to our host, James. He has been at the helm of every Monday morning breakfast show and has been so professional and simply brilliant. Thank you James for guiding and supporting your team. Together you have been amazing. Please enjoy our last offering for this year and thank you for listening.

A proud moment this afternoon as the children of Westwood Radio took over the studio, and the show and broadcast a show full of fun, humour and professionalism. Proof, if ever it were needed of how far these young people have come and their confidence behind the microphone. This was the last show for our departing Year 6 children, who have had such a huge impact on our success. A huge thank you to you all and we will miss you not being with us in the studio next year. It's been a privilege working with you.

it's hard to believe that this is the penultimate breakfast show of the year. Moreover, we will be losing our host, James, after next week. Even more reason to make the most of the team on top form as they broadcast another sparkling show, including a live caller all the way from Canberra in Australia! Amazing!

Another fabulous show to start the week and with only two left until the end of term, make the most of this team whilst you can. With more top presenting, outstanding hosting and great fun in the studio and a live caller, these children have come a long way.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at Wiltshire Heights residential care home for the last outside broadcast of the year! Our Year 6 broadcasters were on top form with another outstanding show, which included some fascinating interviews with residents. Such a lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon and a fitting last OB for a team of talented broadcasters who have come so far on Westwood Radio.

Yet another, and ambitious, Westwood Radio first as we broadcast a live show throughout the duration of the 2018 Summer Fair. Including slots from our fabulous presenters, country dancing, dance club performances and interviews with stall holders, this was innovative education radio at it's best and superbly carried off by our young team.

Tonight Westwood Radio went off site for a special live Outside Broadcast from The New Inn, Westwood, as part of the school's highly successful oral history project. The theme was an open mic night where members of the local community were interviewed about their lives and experiences in the Westwood area and what a night we had. Outstanding hosting from Josh and James, so professional, and some amazing interviews for our archive. Thank you to everyone who took part and to Caroline for allowing us to hold our event at The New Inn.
