Jay and Dre recap the longest week the NFL could ever have or ever imagine, from the morning of Thanksgiving all the way to the end of the Steelers win over the Ravens this past Wednesday evening. Week 12 was buzzworthy, but the buzz wasn't good news. The saga of that Wednesday game and the shameful exhibition of football in Denver put a large spotlight on how the league is handling the Year of Corona. Week 13 has its peculiarities as well. A rather large number of games will be affected by the latest spike of COVID-19 in our country, most notably the Ravens-Steelers matchup which may not take place at all since Baltimore seems to lose more players every day. Jay and Dre recap the awful Thanksgiving NFL "action" and quickly move on to deciphering what may go down as the most AWOL week in the NFL evah. The boys need a Lock Intervention of some sort, as Dre has now dropped six straight Locks and Jay five of his last six. They look back on a wild Week 11 in the NFL, where they both managed only five wins, then they look ahead to this year's Thanksgiving contests. First, the Disciples of Belichick do battle as Romeo Crennel's Texans take on Matt Patricia's Lions. Then, what used to be Cowboys & Indians is now just a Football Team visiting Dallas. Jay and Dre pined for Jameis "Wild Thing" Winston on last week's show, and then Drew Brees came up with busted ribs, so the path seemed set for Winston to get some starts at QB for the Saints. However, genius coach Sean Payton may elect to use Taysom Hill as his starter despite his lack of experience at the position. The guys look at the happenings of Week 10 in the NFL before revealing their picks for Week 11. Jay and Dre spent the last show tempting fate by talking about all the other picks they could have chosen as Lock of the Week instead of the one they both chose, Arizona over Miami, and boy howdy, did they pick the wrong Lock. They both had good weeks despite the double-doink, and they chat about their Week 9 before diving in to the Week 10 picks. Now that Dre has taken a one-game lead over Jay for the NFL season picking ATS, Dre resisted the urge to demand that the records freeze here and now. Unlike the president, Dre and Jay have always counted every game as the truest test of their handicapping skills, and this year is no exception. The boys catch up on a busy Week 8 before jumping into the Week 9 docket, which features two all-timers on Sunday night as Drew Brees's Saints visit Tom Brady's Bucs. The spider webs are hung, the pumpkins are carved, and Jay and Dre are ready for the Halloween football party. The boys look back on their Week 7 picks--some good, some ghoulish--then they dig into Week 8, which features the Steelers in the week's highlight game again, this time visiting the Ravens. The COVID-related postponement of the battle of undefeated teams between Pittsburgh and Tennessee was relocated to this week. Both squads are still undefeated, so the league gets to have a major clash despite the delay. Dre and Jay recap a contentious Week 6 which resulted in a split of their eight disagreements, then they dig into the upcoming Week 7 docket. In addition to Steelers-Titans, COVID concerns have moved the Tampa-Vegas game out of primetime for fear of having to kill it altogether, and instead the undefeated Seahawks play on Sunday night in Arizona. Under no circumstances should any game on the schedule be considered a certainty for the rest of the season, but tentatively, there are twelve games coming this Sunday, followed by another Monday night doubleheader. Jay and Dre look at the occurrences of Week 5 in the NFL--the good (Dre goes 11-3), the bad (the Falcons finally hit rock bottom) and the ugly (Dak Prescott's disgusting busted ankle). Then the guys have their Week 6 picks against the spread. The Oprah-inspired giveaway of coronavirus has officially made its way to the NFL, as Cam Newton, half the Titans, and others have been afflicted in the past week. Coronapalooza is wreaking havoc on the schedule, resulting in two Monday games last week and this week and a Tuesday nighter upcoming, and it's probably just the beginning. The boys look back on Jay's two-game sweep of Dre in Week 4 before moving on to their Week 5 picks. Regardless of Week 3 winners and losers in the NFL, the news of the past week is that COVID-19 continues to ruin anything in its path, postponing what would have been a battle of undefeateds in Week 4 between the Steelers and Titans after a coronavirus outbreak in the Titan organization. Jay and Dre talk about an active Week 3 which saw Dre get on track with his first winning week of picks. There will reportedly be enough players to stage Week 3 in the NFL, and Jay and Dre will attempt to predict what will happen. It was another rough week for Dre in Week 2, especially for his Lock, which Jay tried to warn him would sink like the Titanic. Jay opened the strange 2020 season much better than Dre did, including calling his shot on the upset of Week 1, the Cardinals straight up over the 49ers. The boys discuss the events of last weekend, then move into Overreaction Theatre for Week 2. Who's dead after one game and who's going to the Super Bowl?! The first week of games in the NFL this year will be the first week of game action for everyone since last season ended. With no preseason games, how many guys will come up lame or miss a blocking assignment allowing their QB or RB to get blasted? Football hurts to play in any situation, but with no warm-up thanks to Coronapalooza, this week may be extra gruesome. No one has to be told how much uncertainty goes into this upcoming football season in this the year of Coronapalooza. Jay and Dre begin the eighth campaign of their podcast previewing the most unusual NFL campaign in modern history. With no preseason action, all the teams have to boot up ice cold. Who's equipped to handle these circumstances and go all the way to the title? It may be the champion Chiefs, and the boys weigh in early on Kansas City as they open Thursday night hosting the Texans in a rematch of a most memorable playoff game. Can the Ravens and Lamar Jackson blast through their playoff brick wall? Can the 49ers recover from having a 4th-quarter Super Bowl lead and blowing it? The Washington Redskins are a famous NFL team with a long and rich history. They have multiple league titles and Super Bowl trophies, many Hall of Fame players and coaches...and now they have no name. Jay and Dre talk about the decision by owner Dan Snyder to strip the team of its controversial mascot, and they ask longtime DC resident and former classmate Tim about the local reax to the situation. It's a 60-game sprint instead of a 162-game marathon thanks to the coronavirus, but baseball will attempt to get its 2020 campaign on. There are many different rule changes, including universal DH for the first time, and every game atmosphere will be a little different as cheering crowds are replaced by sound effects. Jay and Dre try to interpret how this strange year will play out. Will the Nationals find a way to repeat? Will the top teams remain at the top with such a low ceiling for any struggling? Will any underdogs surge to the playoffs off a hot win streak? No matter the prognosis, MLB in the midst of a pandemic is happening.
