This week we were lucky enough to have Matt Miller from the Western Maryland Jaycees stop by for a chat. Matt is the mastermind behind the successful annual Tri-State Wing Off. The success of this event allows the Jaycess to help fund grants throughout the year and help local non-profits, and 100% of the monies raised stays in the area.  This year the musical entertainment is stellar with Shooter Jennings headlining the event on June 20, 2015. Jeff Henry joins us on today's Podcast. Jeff's voice should sound familiar. Jeff has been a local fixture on the airwaves. Jeff has many names that he uses on air, but his most famous is Walt on WFWM Thursday @10pm. When Jeff is not on the radio he might be marrying people, hanging out with Gordon, and spinning @ Dante's Bar in Frostburg for Martini Mondays. The majority of Dave Romero's adult life was spent as an electronics engineer and strategic marketing executive in the semiconductor industry, his camera was never far from reach especially during his travels abroad. His photography during this phase of his life was primarily "street" and "travel" photography; discovering and "stopping in time" the people and sights he encountered. In 1999 Dave "tested the waters" as a commercial studio photographer and designer servicing the photographic and marketing needs of professional artists. It soon became clear that this "other job" could be nurtured and transformed into a full-time pursuit.   Jessica Muessen is a talented artist, poster artist, illustrator and is most well-known for her award-winning tattoos. Jessica has her own shop Tattoo Nouveau in Midland Maryland. Jessica recently garnered national attention for a Grateful Dead inspired envelope celebrating the bands 50th anniversary show.      Michael Thompson is a digital artist, photographer and painter.  He has been exposed to art his entire life while growing up in Cumberland, MD.  After graduating from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor’s of Art (Graphic Design) he moved out of the area and has returned with an appetite for creating fine art.  Starting in 2011 Michael started to create pieces for local juried art shows. Subsequent to having a few years of luck in those shows and some encouragement, he decided to make his first series.  Bill Dunlap is an artist who tends to move around between Western Maryland, and Ney York City . Most of the art making happens here in Cumberland. His work as been shown in galleries, museums, and art fairs in North America, Europe, and Africa. His work is included in several permanent collections including the New York Museum of Modern Art and a recent acquisitions by the Universities of Maryland and Wisconsin. Many of our listeners have noticed his large scale barn murals throughout the state of Maryland. His work has been featured extensively in art magazines, books and on many art blogs.
