Protecting MOB Price
05/03/2014 Duration: 03minForce protection is one of the key roles of the soldiers from 3rd Battalion the Mercian Regiment deployed at MOB Price. That is, protecting the base, and those within it, from attack. 24/7 platoon sided shifts rotate between 3 main tasks; sangar duty, guarding the main entry point and being on call as the Quick Reaction Force or QRF. During her visit to the base Jade joined a those stagging on for Sangar duty by climbing the steep steps into the perimeter watchtowers. It’s certainly not a glamorous task, but very much a vital one.

Staff of the MOB Price Med Centre
05/03/2014 Duration: 01minJade Callaway took a trip to MOB Price to find out about work and life at one of the last remaining locations in Helmand Province during it's final months. Touring around the camp she swung by a number of the units. The Kandak Liason Team is made up of soldiers from 3rd Battalion the Mercian Regiment deployed at MOB Price. Jade spoke to them just after their debrief following a successful operation, that was made all the more significant for taking place on 3 Mercian’s proudest battle honours day, Ferozashah. As increasing amounts of operations hand over to the Afghan National Security Forces, their role is a crucial one. One member of the team is LCpl Brendan Pogmore, a 50 Cal Gunner on the Husky Armoured Vehicles. It shows enormous progress that the ANA are now leading the majority of operations, but ISAF assistance on Herrick 19 continues while the force continues to develop. In the meantime, Major Dickenson and the MOB Price Med Centre staff are on hand.
