Doopcast - Philadelphia Union

  According to Wikipedia the highest point in Colorado is Mt. Elbert at 6,800 feet and NOT 6 foot 7 center back, Axel Sjoberg nor man-mountain cry-baby Bobby Burling -  but just when we thought Burling’s dismissal had left our opponents with a mountain to climb, the Union’s rocky mountain high hopes came plummeting down to earth faster than Harrison Ford’s airplane as our stolid strikers made like they were playing in the Lot A mud and muck, however there were bright spots with an industrious, promising debut from Nando and not least the fact that Danny Cruz wasn’t even on the bench, so hey… it wasn’t all bad...   

THe Crew and RBNY games get a good going over and there is some Sons of Ben news to mull over.

Welp, there it goes.  Pat is in Ireland, Dan is indifferent, and Richie is trying to make sense of it all through the medium of song. Make sure you are subscribed because there will be another couple episodes to come, even though the U's season is now done.  We will have our Doopies award show as well as a review of the expansion draft and the regular draft.  And who knows what else...

Well, what can you say about that?  For many that game was the Union season all neatly wraped up in to one game.  For others it was the last straw.  Let's see what The Lads make of that particular kick in the nuts.

Oh dear... Where did the season go?

Three games for the price of one download.  Reference to canonical 20th century American poetry?  Check.  Insulting comparison of Thierry Henry?  You know it.  The DoopCast goes all the way from highbrow culture to the lowest of the low in the gutter.  Like Chris Christie and Rosie O'Donnel sitting down on the pitcher's mound at CItizen's Bank Park, the lads cover ALL the bases.

In the Eastern Conference at this stage of the season every game is a six-pointer.  The U took maximum points from our northern neighbors as the Curtin experiment continues on apace.  Can they maintain the momentum in to a huge four days?

Days late and a dooper short but Dan and Rich soldier on without Pat to try and make sense of two very different games.

The lost sheep has been found as the hit Colombian telenovela, El hijo pródigo finally makes its way to US shores.  Like that secret serum the CDC sent to Liberia we are hoping that Carlos is the cure for the Union's defensive woes, and it could just happen, cos it seems that lately everything is coming up Millhouse, er.. Whoops!  Sorry if you downloaded the original file.  Not sure what happened but this one is now all present and correct. The boys in blue stole a point in the windy city as the self-immolating Fire 'did a Union' and somehow contrived a last-minute Port Chicago Disaster (Google that one, conspiracy theory fans). LeToux scored again, continuing to be more successful at kicking spots than ProActiv. Yeah, bit of a stretch that one... And speaking of stretches, will we be seeing Jim Curtin's nylon stretch suits for much longer if his winning continues? Let's see what the lads have to say.  

We are getting close to being all caught up.  This episode covers the simply marvellous 3-1 victory over Titi and his all-star whining crew.  We should be on a 'regular' schedule by next week when we will record an episode to go over the Chicago and Crystal Palace games. The lost episode is found!  We thought that this one had disappeared because the original recording file became corrupt, but after toiling away it is arisen from the ashes of oblivion. This episode will be followed by a couple of 'catchup' episodes covering first the Open Cup run, and then the regular league fixtures.  Sorry for such a long break but events conspired against us.  Rest assured that we are now back on a regular schedule. How can a three-nil victory, away from home no less, end up feeling so... Blah?  Only this Philadelphia Union could make you feel that way.  Perhaps just like owners evfentually end up looking like their dogs, the Union are slowly starting to morph into Mr. Vanilla himself.  Sure, Hack's a great guy, level-headed, smart, not too pushy or showy, but that's more like the kind of guy you want to rent an apartment from - not the kind of desperate, win-at-all-costs kind of unique individual you want representing your heart and soul on the pitch. Ho-hum...  You see?  Even after a three-nil win I still feel a little bummed out.  What can cure that?  A confident, free-flowing performance against a red hot team.

The pain just keeps on coming, but look on the bright side.  Hack is really happy for Landycakes.  Huh?
