Reacting to the Panthers New Practice Facility In Downtown Fort Lauderdale
26/12/2023 Duration: 29minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers getting a big win against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon from Amerant Bank Arena. The Panthers were unable to score on their multiple rush chances early on, but did not end up costing them as the Panthers went back to their identity of shot suppression and protecting the neutral zone. Although Vegas made a push and took an early 1-0 lead, the Panthers tied the game within six minutes of the second period and had a huge penalty kill to start the third. This game got chippy in the middle of the first period where Ryan Lomberg dropped the gloves with Keegan Kolesar and got him on one punch. The Panthers scored twice on the power play in the third to break this one open, Carter Verhaeghe got his 100th goal as a Panther in 235 games, second fastest only to Pavel Bure. The Panthers were dominant early and getting in the dirty areas, but Joel Hofer and the Blues defense were able to stop the Panthers top two lines and their early push. Things got out of hand in the second period as the Blues took advantage of the Panthers turning the puck over and untimely pinches. With the Blues' speed on Odd Man rushes and quick passing, St. Louis scored two twice in three minutes, once by Jordan Kyrou, and by Pavel Buchnevich. The Blues did have a disallowed goal 23 seconds after their first goal(by Buchnevich), and Head Coach Paul Maurice took the opportunity to let his feelings know to the team during the successful challenge. The Blues shut it down in the third period as they took away t

Back At Home Looking For Some Momentum Heading Into Holiday Break
21/12/2023 Duration: 31minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers returning home for a quick two game home stand prior to the holiday break. The St Louis Blues, a team where the Panthers don't see often have gone through some ups and downs since winning the Stanley Cup back in 2019. The Blues are now under Interim Head Coach Drew Bannister, but after Craig Berube's firing, forward Jordan Kyrou was under fire for some comments after the fact. The all time series between Florida and St Louis hasn't been favorable for the Panthers, including being swept last season. However, the Panthers have a great opportunity to get back to their winning ways as they are 9-4-0 at home and playing their first home game since December 8th. Panthers will play four of their next five from Amerant Bank Arena to close out 2023. We discuss this and more on today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast: Your Team, Every Day.UPDATE: Despite Skating This Morning, Anton

Panthers Get Shutout 4-0 Where Puck Management (Or Lack There Of) Made The Difference
15/12/2023 Duration: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 4-0 loss at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks. The Panthers puck management on breakouts and in the neutral zone cost the Panthers early on. In a game where the main focus was to stop to top scorers for the Canucks, the depth pieces were the difference for the second game in a row for the opposition. What does that say about the Panthers' depth? Are the solution to the Panthers' problems internal? How does the rest of the road trip and the division look now that the Panthers have been shut out for the second game in a row(the first since 2011)? We also discuss what Roberto Luongo said during his media availability prior to being placed in the Canucks Ring Of Honor. Goal-less In Seattle.
13/12/2023 Duration: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brings in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The Panthers had an encouraging start to this game where they only allowed three shots on goal in the first period. Things started to tilt in period two, but with the Panthers getting two chances on the power play and having over a minute of zone time on a delayed penalty, the Panthers could not carry that momentum into the Power play as they had zero shots on goal. Head Coach Paul Maurice tried giving the team a spark by placing Matthew Tkachuk with Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen? Do we see that line together to start Thursday's game in Vancouver? We have a verdict on former Panthers Defenseman Erik Gudbranson after his altercation with current Panthers Forward Nick Cousins. Was the punishment too low or just right? Ayala(@elindsay08) of Locked On Kraken to provide us how Seattle got to their 8-14-7 record. The Kraken have plenty of depth scoring, but are still trying to find their "go to " guy as the third year franchise has built the farm system with plenty of draft assets, an unexpected playoff appearance and win at the NHL level, and their AHL affiliate making the Calder Cup Championship. What is the injury situation for the Kraken? Former Panthers G Chris Driedger has been called up from Coachella Valley, will he start against the Panthers? The two also discuss what will it take to come out with a win as Seattle is currently on an eight game losing streak while the Cats have won three straight. Will the streaks continue, or will both teams simultaniously have their streaks end? Erik Gudbranson: C'mon, Man.
11/12/2023 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets from Nationwide Arena. The Panthers gave up quite a bit of odd man rushes, but mostly took care of the neutral zone and had Columbus pinned deep as they were without Captain Boone Jenner. This was after the Panthers and Blue Jackets had 40 minutes of 5-on-5. The biggest story out of this one was the boarding call from Nick Cousins on Erik Gudbranson 24 seconds into the 3rd period. Gudbranson was not pleased and decided to go after Nick Cousins. After originally being ruled a five minute major and a lengthy review, the call was changed to a minor penalty. Later in the period, that's where it got uglier. As Nick Cousins was attempting to get the puck deep into the Blue Jackets zone, Gudbranson grabs Cousins' head, drops him down on the ice and throws a flurry of punches after taking exception to the earlier. The Cats were awarded a 7-minute power pla

Sergei Bobrovsky weathered the storm in the first 35 minutes as they surrendered multiple odd man rushes on the night. Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice was not pleased with the teams energy as the Pittsburgh Penguins were dominating the face off dot and the neutral zone. Panthers forwards Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen were some of the standouts after the Panthers juggled their lines, which included the game-winning goal at 6:10 in the 3rd period where the Panthers never looked back from there. The team was down 6-on-4 in the final minutes of the game and the Cats denied Pittsburgh from getting quality scoring chances in the third, where the Panthers only allowed two SOG prior to the Penguins br

Panthers Look To Be A Playoff Lock, Maurice's Forward Thinking Will Help Them Down The Line
04/12/2023 Duration: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the Panthers last two games against the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders, where it was a tale of two games. The Panthers finished their eastern Canadian Road Trip with five out of six points and shot from one place often this past Thursday as the Cats came out with a 5-1 victory. As the Panthers welcomed the New York Islanders to town, the team entered on a 2-game home losing streak, faced a Mat Barzal-less Islanders team. On Paper, one would think that the Panthers could have their way against New York, but they just could not figure out Ilya Sorokin on the night(saved 42 of 45 shots faced) , with a few missed opportunities on the Power Play. Matthew Tkachuk breaks his goal-scoring drought of 10 games and Carter Verhaeghe scores again on Saturday, but it was not enough as the Panthers dropped their third straight on home ice. Lastly, we discuss Paul Mauice's forward thinking and how it has bee

The guys discuss the pure domination of the Panthers on Monday night against the Ottawa Senators. Where the Panthers started the game scoring on their first three power plays(two by Sam Reinhart, one by Sam Bennett). Monday was a night of frustration where it had a lot of carryover from their matchup last season on April 6th(Panthers win that one 7-2) that led to 167 of total Penalty's In Minutes(PIM) for both teams combined. Tuesday in Toronto on the second end of a back-to-back, the team had a lot of energy with Anthony Stolarz between the pipes. Both goals by Kevin Stenlund for Florida and Noah Gregor of Toronto was not enough for regulation. The stars for both teams were kept at bay on their scoring chances. After an exciting overtime where the Panthers were also on the power play, they did not find the back of the net. The Cats ended up dr
