We wrap up our January Series on Give Up. Hebrews 12:14-15 tells us to make every effort to live at peace and avoid bitterness. Bitterness can be like a root that grows. Let's learn how to deal with this root. 

In the Christmas account. We read how the virgin girl, a poor, common, country girl, small community, common couple, common place. The God of the Universe, laying in a manger. He deserves opulence, He deserves the most attention and a place in a palace. But it’s common, it’s humble, it’s low…What is the message? There is nothing to fear. After all, Jesus came as a baby, who’s afraid of a baby? You can’t read the story of Christ birth without hearing the message, Fear Not..

Never allow the presence of a storm to cause you to doubt the presence of God. Today we illustrate this truth looking in the book of Acts, chapter 27.   Paul learns what we can all know, real Peace is not found in the absence of a storm. Peace is found in the presence of Jesus.

This is the second message in the God with us series, today what I want to do is to talk about another metaphor from Scripture, and that is "the wilderness." How do we experience God's presence in the wilderness?  The wilderness is different from the valley, because time in the wilderness usually lasts a lot longer. The wilderness is a barren place, a dry place, a desolate place where you feel very alone. One of the images often found in the wilderness is “wandering through the wilderness.”

There is a term that means a lot to believers, especially during this Advent season. It is the word INCARNATION. It means that God became flesh and dwelt among us. It is the distinctive mark of the Christian faith, God became flesh. He was one of us. We launch this message series for the Christmas season, God with us.  Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us.' Matt 1:23 NLT

You cannot separate Jesus from supernatural. You can’t just say he is a good teacher, the supernatural is what makes God, God. It will be  uncomfortable. Why? Because we like to understand everything. If it is explainable it makes us feel better.

The Christian life is anything but comfortable. In fact, it is guaranteed that living for Jesus will be uncomfortable. It doesn’t mean it won’t be meaningful, it doesn’t mean it won’t be helpful or enduring, but it will be uncomfortable. Today we look at the central focus to every believers journey, the Cross. 

Are you comfortable? That seems to be the number one goal of culture today. Be comfortable, don’t put yourself in uncomfortable situations. If it is uncomfortable, avoid it at all cost. The fact of the matter is, the Christian life will be uncomfortable, embrace it. 

We finish our message series on our identity in Christ. The greatest challenge in our faith walk will be how we love, accept and forgive. 

Your Identity can be Transformed in Jesus. Romans 12:1-3 teaches us about peer pressure and allowing our minds to undergo a metamorphosis.
