Ms. Cowles is the fitness director with the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine's U-ExCEL (Exercise and Conditioning for Easier Living) program, and has worked to develop comprehensive fall prevention training that is not only directed at the general population, but is designed to be accessible to those with low vision.

A distinguished panel has been assembled consisting of Audrey Demmitt, R.N., who began and runs a support group, and who is the support group advisor/peer advisor, AFB/VisionAware; Dan Roberts, director of MD Support and creator of International Low Vision Support Group Network; and Erica Weise who runs “The New Perspectives” support groups for Vision Forward Association in Milwaukee. This seminar will discuss the resources available to leaders and members of self-help groups as well as the use of some unique strategies for starting and conducting self-help groups.
