Melbourne, 1942. The city was dealing with the effects of the Second World War, social upheaval and an influx of US soldiers stationed nearby. Locals were about to find out they had another problem to contend with - a serial killer. Women were found in the streets, their bodies abandoned in broad daylight, and every day the newspapers brought fresh updates alongside their articles about the bomb threat. The tragic death of 21 year-old Elisa Lam has held a fascination for the public and the media since it happened in 2013. A Canadian student on a solo vacation to the States, she went missing from the infamous Hotel Cecil in LA. Emma Caldwell was 27 years old when she went missing in April of 2005, from her hostel in Glasgow. There is CCTV footage of her leaving towards the city's red light district. Weeks later, a dog walker discovered Emma's body in some woodlands outside the city. Although the police arrested and charged suspects in Emma's murder, the case fell apart. 14 years later, Emma's killer still hasn't been brought to justice. Conrad Henri Roy III was a high achieving, family oriented teenager who committed suicide at the age of 18 with encouragement from his long distance girlfriend. The evidence uncovered shocked detectives running an investigation on this death, and lead to a charge against the girlfriend, Michelle Carter, for her involvement.
