This week's interview is not to be missed as Mr. Faizal Emamaullee reviews the unique components of the academic programs offered here at LILA, from the French baccalauréat, including the option internationale du baccalauréat (OIB), to the International Baccalaureate (IB). "What is the difference and why might I choose one over the other" is often a question students and parents have about these programs, and Mr. E introduces the benefits as well the type of student who might be suited for each of the programs offered. For those who don't know, Mr. E is also the head of the LILA Burbank running club. He spoke a little about his hopes for the program next year and the benefits of running for athletes. Lincoln, Ms. Harvey, and Mr. Mondange also take time to provide a few updates on the launch of the Art Walk happening this Friday, May 21, the soccer team, and the upcoming conseils de classe. Ms. Campbell shared with us how her passion for science started as a 5th grader and a science fair and carried her through Stanford University and a career path as an educator. Ms. Campbell has taught in public and private schools, as well as Albania, and is looking to help grow the science club here at LILA. Burbank students are invited to join the next science club meeting on Monday, April 12 at lunchtime. Lincoln, Ms. Harvey, and Mr. Mondange reviewed notes for the upcoming break and gave a reminder to quarantine if you travel out of state, as well as to complete daily health screenings. Lincoln, Ms. Harvey, and Mr. Mondange all agreed it is a good time to take a breather from school and get some rest. If you have Netflix and are looking for French language content, high marks were both given for the series Lupin and Call My Agent. LILA parent Louis Leterrier directed the first 3 chapters of the series starring Omar Sy who was previously a parent here at LILA. Mr. Mondange was excited to share that the school has also received direction that they can start to plan for the 6th graders to return to campus very soon. Ms. Harvey asked that all parents and students mark their calendars for picture day as there will be a way to make this happen in the weeks following the break. This week was also the student government elections and we hope to have the new leadership team join the podcast in the future to speak about their plans for next year. '21 who joined us in the studio to provide an update on the recent unrest along borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan from the perspective of an American teenager with family who live in Armenia. She is also a member of the student-led Charity Committee and she shared some initiatives to look forward to as Thanksgiving approaches. Mrs. Harvey and Lincoln recognized our Veterans as the recording occurred on Veterans' Day. Mrs. Harvey was also able to answer some questions regarding ways in which the school is looking to bring students back to campus as a follow-up to Mr. Maniska's briefing from this past week. Mrs. Harvey and Lincoln discussed the possibility of having a Thanksgiving meal competition similar to the pumpkin carving contest, so get your cameras ready! It appears the Harveys are planning to celebrate their Thanksgiving with a traditional Lobster meal! Be on the lookout for more information in
