In this week's episode, Lincoln and Mr. Mondange interviewed Head of School Mr. Maniska, who was able to provide an update on the status of the school's back-to-campus plans. Mr. Maniska spoke about opportunities for small groups to return for special activities such as IB testing but was not able to speak further about a larger return to campus. Mr. Maniska also spoke about the upcoming Annual Fund and the need for support and how the pandemic has impacted the school. Lincoln and Mr. Mondange explored the differences between the French and American electoral systems, recognizing the importance of the election process currently taking place here in the U.S. Thank you for listening!

In this week's episode, Lincoln and Ms. Harvey give a preview of future guests who are planning to make appearances on the show, with Head of School Michael Maniska set to join next week. This week's hosts also provide updates on what is currently happening at the campus to make it more conducive to a future to in-person learning for students. Updates include widening of the gate entrance and updating of the parking lot flow pattern signage. The campus team is also using Halloween as a way to infuse some fun, especially for the 6th graders, into the school day on Friday. Activities will include costume and pumpkin carving contests. In this week's episode Lincoln opens the show with a recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month and to the many LILA familias who are a part of our community. We also hear from Paulina D'Souza and Lara Lange who are both 12th graders and are our current leaders of the Peer Mentoring program at LILA Burbank. La Voix also welcomed Barbara Kuhl, LILA's College Counselor who spoke about her upcoming presentation to the parents and students of the 9th and 10th grade. In the first episode of the 2020-2021 school year, the podcasts host Lincoln Matuskiewicz (9 Intl), along with Anneli Harvey and Mathieu Mondage welcome back our students and new teachers to the virtual campus. They also introduced the podcast's new name, now called La Voix du LILA - Burbank (The Voice of LILA - Burbank), along with some changes on how the podcast can be experienced. The change of the name is meant to reflect the evolution of the platform as well as a better representation of the many languages spoken among our families here at the International School of Los Angeles, currently 40 and counting! Ms. Harvey and Mr Mondage share insights on the new student platform called Homebase and how incredible our teachers have been in bringing this to life for the upcoming school year. The school year is almost complete and for our last podcast interview of the term, it was certainly special. Mr Jean De Rivieres (LILA parent/SVP Ubisoft) joins us to give a little insight on his experience as an entertainment industry executive and a preview of what he will be presenting to the students next week during his Masterclass. It was incredibly interesting to hear him describe his time growing up in France eventually deciding to come to the United States for university as a scholarship athlete to play tennis. Afterwards moving back to France to earn his Master's, at which time he decided to pursue what has become his career. The discussion focused on what it has been like to learn remotely during the stay at home order as well as weekly updates for this week at LILA.

Lincoln interviews Jillian and Francis, two of our outgoing seniors about the schools they will be attending in the fall: Georgetown and Sciences Po in Reims France respectively. During the podcast, they discuss how LILA has helped them get into these selective programs. For this podcast's first international interview: this week's guest is Carmine Audoly, a former LILA Student from 2 years ago. Carmine moved back to Paris and joined Mr. Mondange and Lincoln from her home there to give us her perspective on how it feels to be in her final year of high school, preparing for college and how COVID-19 has impacted her and her friendships there. Carmine has recorded audio for us to hear how the community recognizes the front line workers in Paris similar to cities around the United States. She also has a special message for her friends at LILA. Mr. Mondange also tells us about the different things to do over the break for all students.
