Rain Delay Theater

The Wild Card Games are in the books so Jack and Jeremy recap them as well as preview the LDS series' coming up. The guys also talk about Ozzie Guillen's local Emmy nomination, Frank Thomas buying the Field of Dreams, Dusty Baker drinking champagne out of a shoe, the departures/firings of some managers and Cubs coaches, and also Jeremy's solo experience of autograph hunting at Wrigley the day after the season ended. For the final time this season, Jack and Jeremy head out to the ballpark to see the White Sox take on the Reds in a game that was kinda bad and left an overall dirty feeling on the guys. Our duo deal with some tension sneaking into the 100 level and are surrounded by numerous unpleasant characters in their section. The night may have been saved by a delicious Spicy Ditka Polish and a bargain bin shirsey purchase by Jack. The guys also give a final tally of stats after the 2021 season and a look at the playoff picture as it stands a day before the season ends. The Rain Delay boys head out to a Cubs game for one last time this season and take in their first game for the pod from the famous Wrigley Field bleachers. The guys get to meet Bleacher Jeff, experience some bleacher bum security guards, and learn about the secret value of shoestrings. Jeremy also partakes in some exclusive bleacher food from Hot Doug's! The real show comes after, once again, when Jack and Jeremy venture over to the Twins team bus and, inexplicably, witness the #OneChipChallenge with the Twins bus driver and some knucklehead fans hanging around. There's also a run-in with a weird security guard who encourages the guys to make money selling autographs on eBay. The Cubs season luckily wraps up in the weirdest of ways for our duo, so please check out this ep to hear all about it!

Jack and Jeremy return to the site of episode 5 of the pod, Beloit, Wisconsin, to see the Beloit Snappers take on the South Bend Cubs in High-A minor league action! In this episode, Jeremy is accosted by a Chicago-hating Wisconsin yokel, a super-twangy National Anthem is sung, a Johnny Carson-soundalike PA announcer, and VOMIT! For the second time in one week, Rain Delay Theater is taking in some quality Pirates baseball! Not really, but they did see them play twice. This time on the northside against the Chicago Cubs! We hear tales about a group of four older guys with young guy shenanigans...and wine. We also hear about an ill-fated non-bleachers beer snake, a Ditka lookalike, and more visiting team autograph hijinks, including a Polish man who wants Pirates autographs but only visits the US once every 10 years! What? Just listen to find out.

The playoffs are in the air on the Southside of Chicago and Jack, Jeremy, and a whopping 19,229 additional fans came out to Sox Park to see the White Sox take on the Pirates. After some 100 level access drama, the guys take in the game and encounter a finger-guns dancing angry dad who had some displeasure over a nacho purchase, a whole pizza being dropped from the upper deck, and a switchblade and German Shepherd try to get through security. Hear all about it on this week’s episode! The guys also discuss the Baez/Mets/Thumbs down controversy at the top of the show as well. Oh…and beware of fake creepy babies!

Rain Delay Theater is back at Wrigley and this time no rain! Jack and Jeremy are treated to a rare-these-days exciting Cubs victory! But the real highlights take place when the guys decide to head over to the Rockies bus after the game. We're treated to a case of mistaken identity for one of the Rockies' top pitchers, Jeremy getting snubbed by the one Rockies player whose card he brought, and a chance encounter with a Cubs player on the walk back to the car! The aftermath of which resulted in one of the funniest podcast moments to date, as Jack and Jeremy celebrate with two overly excited galoots, er, fans who also received an autograph of the aforementioned mystery Cubs player. This week, Jack and Jeremy take a look at some of MLB's Top prospects and worst case scenario comps for them - it gets pretty ugly, sorry Adley Rutschman! The guys also talk about Topps losing the MLB license for baseball cards, a late recap of the Field of Dreams game, plus a recap of Jeremy's White Sox Scout Seat experience and his trip to St. Louis and Cardinal country.

Into each season, some rain must fall…but that doesn’t mean Jack and Jeremy still can’t find a whole episode’s worth of material. The guys attempted to see the Cubs vs. Brewers at Wrigley Field but Mother Nature had other plans. Luckily, the guys witness one of the funnier moments in podcast history as they hung out by the Brewers bus as the team departed the stadium - a cacophony of chaos ensued. Before that, Jack and Jeremy witness a funny-talkin hot dog vendor, a Cubs employee who danced like no one was watching, and a Wrigley Field/this podcast “celebrity” sighting. We hear about Jeremy and Rich's shared experiences with the 2005 White Sox and the 2016 Cubs as well as a home run derby moment gone awry. The guys are back from their All-Star break to bring you a recap of a straight doubleheader between the White Sox and the Twins. It was truly a tale of two games which featured Jack and Jeremy and a foul ball in game 1 and a near fight stemming from a loudly spoken comment by one of the guys in game 2. Tune in to see if the guys got a foul ball and who of the two said the fateful comment and if that person got their ass kicked. You’ll also hear tales of people trying to walk through the metal detector with their pockets jammed full of crap, Jack and Jeremy being accosted by over-excited White Sox fans after a Gavin Sheets walk off homer, and a lot of musician lookalike sightings! With the All-Star Game fast-approaching this year, Jack and Jeremy take it upon themselves to scrub the All-Star rosters from the past 10 years to determine the worst All-Stars for each league year-to-year. Also this week: Jeremy sinks into deeper Cubs depression, Jake Marisnick is a greasy dude, and the guys take a shot at Joe West just because.

Milwaukee is the place to be this week as the guys travel back to Miller Park/Am Fam Field to see the Cubs in a rare road game vs. the Brewers. The guys get to see a pretty good game...for 7 and a half innings... The heated rivalry between these two teams sends Jack and Jeremy on a roller coaster of emotions and we hear the blow by blow of the events. Jack describes Jeremy's wild mood swings, Jeremy rants about David Ross's management in the series, and the guys report back about a passive aggressive dad and a dude who worked at Boeing who was WAY too into himself. Our long national nightmare is finally over as Jack and Jeremy return to the southside of Chicago and Guaranteed Rate Field to see the White Sox take on the defending AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays! Get settled in for this massive recap episode as the guys are instantly reminded exactly what they've been missing for the last year and a half being away from the White Sox. We're treated to stories of the wacked out El ride down to the park, a group of drunken, F-bomb dropping adolescents behind Jack and Jeremy, and all the same old material on the video board. Ear piercing whistles, earnest 7th inning stretch singing, and coining of a new term "White Sox bad" are all part of this week's SUPERSIZED episode. Tune in and hang around for this one, folks!

Jack and Jeremy decide to set their crosshairs directly on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball and, more specifically, Matt Vasgersian and Alex Rodriguez. These two have been putting out a nonsensical, babbling broadcast for awhile and Rain Delay Theater had to address this debacle by watching and (heavily) critiquing the June 13th broadcast of Cubs vs. Cardinals. Non-sequiturs, beer snakes, and Spanish Translation 101 are just some of the topics covered in this one. And, it goes without saying, that Jack and Jeremy had to address the Anthony Rizzo non-vaxxed news of this past weekend. The guys get deep into that in the first part of the show. Tune in and enjoy!

In this ep, the guys talk about a group of One Direction wannabees sitting in front of them, a deteriorated Ryne Sandberg jersey, we meet a "climber", and perhaps a reprise of the close-walking duo trailing Jack and Jeremy on the walk back to the car...? Jeremy also gives an uncomfortable review of the bathrooms and Jack provides yet another impression in this solo bonus intro this week! Check it out!

Jack and Jeremy bring you an unexpected recap of the Cubs/Reds game from May 28th. These tickets were gifted last minute from Jeremy's work and luckily brought a whole episode's worth of material. In this episode, we hear Jack and Jeremy embroiled in a fiasco to acquire scorecards, a guy who was more into Craig Kimbrel's entrance music than Craig Kimbrel, and a horrific story of being tailed by two people leaving the game! (Listening note: we recorded this as one episode, recapping this Reds game and a Padres game from June 1st, but it ran pretty long, so we decided after the fact to break it up into two episodes. This week Jack and Jeremy play a guessing game of unlikely teammates who overlapped for only a short time and seem to bridge together two generations of ballplayers. But the episode isn't all fun and games as Jack and Jeremy also lay into Tony LaRussa's handling of the Yermin Mercedes situation. This one is NSFW with the four-letter expletives, so be forewarned! And also, with the Cubs struggling to get to the 85% vaccinated threshold, the guys try to guess the anti-vaxxer Cubs! Fun!
