Rain Delay Theater

The first game of the year is here for the Rain Delay boys! Jack and Jeremy head to Wrigley Field for a clash of division rivals and the tension wasn't only on the field! The guys have their usual beef with a group of very late arriving people who force them out of their seats. There's also a little static as a request by one co-host to record the Cubs/Brewers bench clearing situation doesn't go over so well with the other co-host. The guys also visit the Brewers team bus again and have a very cool run-in with a 1980s Cubs great outside of the stadium! Listen to the end to find out who! It's Opening Day 2022 and Jack and Jeremy drop in to give a little preview of the season! The guys talk about some Cubs, Sox, and Brewers who made the squad, some rookies who made the Opening Day roster, and some bums who decided to hang it up. We also hear about some real bets the guys made for the 2022 season and a new "Jack has to wear a Javy Baez jersey to a non-Cubs Brewers home game" prop bet is set! Baseball is here, hallelujah!

It's the usual drill as Jack and Jeremy run down a list of fringe guys, former Cubs bums, and guys who you thought were long retired, trying to stick with a ballclub this season. Many names will get mentioned and Chris Owings gets dumped on again this year! Check it out. The guys also run down their respective, separate trips to sporting events as Jeremy recounts his trip to the UIC Flames baseball home opener and Jack talks about seeing first round action in the NCAA March Madness tournament. This one gets goofy, sorry Carl Edwards Jr!

This week, Jack and Jeremy celebrate the end of the lockout and welcome in the 2022 season! Rob Manfred made his identity as a baseball villain very clear during this lockout and the Rain Delay crew decided to compile their own list of baseball villains and victims. The guys also breakdown the new CBA, talk about some free agent signings in the wake of the new agreement, and also talk about Joe Buck's likely departure from Fox Sports. Tune in and celebrate the return of baseball!

It's Rivalry Week on Rain Delay Theater as Jack's alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee takes on Jeremy's alma mater, University of Illinois at Chicago in hot college basketball action! We take a trip down Jeremy's memory lane as the RDT boys descend upon the UIC campus. The guys deal with a mind boggling ticket debacle at the box office, experience some bobblehead rigamarole, and have a contentious exchange over a free pita. We also hear a rare early episode Jeremy story of a car accident near the UIC campus and Jack makes some heavy implications about a Wisconsin basketball coach! The guys also talk NC State baseball folk hero Tommy White and the current status of the MLB lockout. Tune in and remember, snitches get stitches!

This week, Jack and Jeremy build an All-Cubs/Brewers roster of players who played for both franchises. The guys try to pick one player for each position and it was harder than you'd think - sometimes for good, but mostly for bad reasons. Let's just say, there's a few weak spots in the lineup... The guys also talk about the release of Series 1 of 2022 Topps baseball cards and the contract extensions of Boog Sciambi and Jim Deshaies. Man, we really hope this stupid lockout ends soon...

With the MLB Lockout dragging on with no end in sight and spring training right around the corner, Jack and Jeremy decide to dig into the issues at hand and try to make sense of it all. The guys break down the handful of issues being negotiated right now and try to explain them and give a little perspective. We also hear a recap of the (real) HOF voting and the guys go on many tangents including reminiscing about Greg Oden's infamous bathroom selfie and the possibility of Eric Thames crushing a Japanese man to death with his giant arms.

This week, Jack and Jeremy induct the Worst of Fame class of 2022! New nominees are proposed, two all-time players are selected by the Veteran's Committee, the official ballot is written, and the guys vote for this year's inductees...or maybe no one gets in...? Tune in to see how the guys vote! Also, we hear about a major card pulled by Jeremy and the guys discuss The Innings Festival - a music fest coming to Tempe, Arizona next month! We learn that Jack is NOT AT ALL a fan of live music, but is an explanation given...? Listen for yourself!

Fire up the Zamboni, Jack and Jeremy are heading to the United Center for their first hockey game of the podcast! The guys are treated to a pretty competitive game between the Blackhawks and Avalanche. We also hear about a guy who helped build Guaranteed Rate Field, the guys meet a low rent Joey Votto and some hippies, and we hear another late pod Jeremy story as he recounts his time forgetting his iPod at his seat in Shea Stadium! Rain Delay Theater gets in the Christmas spirit this week as Jack and Jeremy re-write the classic song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" with a new baseball-themed version and a RDT twist - warning it gets a little raunchy around the seventh day... See which podcast favorites and whipping boys make the list. Also, this week's #148 guy elicits a very cringeworthy story from Jeremy - enjoy that right at the top of the show! Jack and Jeremy come to you this week with another watch-along recap episode. This time, the guys move to the world of television and, more specifically, 1990s teen melodrama Beverly Hills, 90210. The episode follows Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Steve (Ian Ziering) as they coach a local little league team and deal with bad sportsmanship, a nose-picking slovenly teammate, and a skeezy commissioner/high level wiseguy person who wants to win at all costs. Listen in as Jeremy first schools Jack about 90210 and all the characters and then for their recap of this wacko episode that was certainly one of the more juvenile of the series. Play ball!

Damian Miller "looks like he's no fun to hang out with", that's clear to see, at least if you're past guest Marc Bubblebath. So this week, in honor of the current MLB lockout, Jack and Jeremy propose a pair of baseball personalities and make the other choose which to let in their apartment to hang out and which to lock out! There's some real Sophie's Choices in this one! The guys also run down the laundry list of recent free agent signings and Jack tells a story of a strip club emcee!

Jack and Jeremy gather together to give thanks for various baseball things this week - don't worry, some people still get hurt in the process. The guys also talk about the 1986 Mets 30 For 30, the Kendall Graveman and Harold Ramirez acquisition, and the Wander Franco contract extension. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Jack and Jeremy head to their first off-season event to see the Dynamic Wrestling Alliance Invitational at the Compass Arena in Willowbrook, IL. We see some old friends from the last DWA pre-pandemic event as well as some new oddballs. Highlights include some controversial political comments by Mr. Ricolo the ring announcer, a bag full of tricks from Yabo the evil clown, and a possible wardrobe malfunction. The fun night of indie wrestling concludes in a trip to Denny's with server Paco and a surprise appearance by a very special guest!

This week, Jack and Jeremy recap their 2021 over/under predictions and see how much Jeremy is a homer and Jack is proud of his Brewers predictions. Plus, the guys preview next week's big live event recap episode!

Inspired by last week's discussion about Mike Morgan giving up Mark McGwire's 61st home run in 1998, the guys decided to go back and take a look at some other home runs, significant and not-so-significant, in baseball history and see who gave them up. Jack and Jeremy also wrap up the 2021 World Series, talk about how the Braves fleeced the league for their revamped outfield, and drag Aaron Rodgers for lying about being vaccinated...great guy alert!

Your team lost the World Series, but who's to blame? No one, it's a team sport, right? Wrong! Jack and Jeremy go back to the last 16 teams who lost the World Series and find one person to blame for the loss. Unfair? Maybe. Completely on-brand for Rain Delay Theater? You know it! The guys also check in on the uninspiring Astros/Braves World Series matchup and talk about the guy who gave back Tom Brady's 600th career TD ball (that's how much we're into this World Series...).

Jack and Jeremy take a look at baseball players who've changed their names at some point in their pro careers and decide if it was a good idea or a bad idea - lookout Fausto Carmona! The guys also talk about the firing of Mike Shildt and the League Championship Series' and Jack's review of "Long Gone Summer" the McGwire/Sosa 30 for 30.

Jack and Jeremy take a look at some bad contracts in baseball and try to see if we can propose some trades that will help out both teams...or at least move around some players who may be destined for jail. Before that, the guys talk about the Division Series' and the elimination of any interesting teams left. And, of course, the guys touch on the end of the White Sox season, John Cusack, Cane Guy, and the Leury Garcia tattoo guy.
