James Madison once argued that when laws become so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that the cannot be understood by the people, it will poison the blessings of liberty itself. Over the past few years, I find myself leaning more and more into the general position of the Anti-Federalists of the 1788 era. while I love the Constitution and its history with a passion that came to me late in life, I am also beginning to realize that the Framers and the writers of the Federalist Papers had a much more optimistic view of the nature of men and the spirit of liberty. I get that they did their best, but they made some assumptions about their descendents that turned out to not only be inaccurate, but wildly sanguine. Now we find that our government, consisting of men and women of our own choice, has literally stopped even making voluminous laws. In a way it’s because of the “Golden Rule.” No… not that one. The other “golden rule.” But it’s less about the physicality of gold and more about the reality of power. As you may have heard, I do not believe that the “religious exemption” is going to hold water when it comes to refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccination*. Consequently, the question I have tried to find an answer to is simply what is a better argument against the vaccine mandate? As a libertarian leaning Conservative, I like the position of privacy. What is between myself and my medical professional is between myself and my medical professional. It is literally none of your business, and it is certainly not the business of government (at any level). To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, how does my vaccination status in any way effect you? If you want the shot, get it. Unless the government is lying about the efficacy and effectiveness of the vaccine, my status cannot possibly effect you. The problem with this argument is that it relies on several Supreme Court rulings which in turn, are grounded in some rather questionable Constitutional logic. People who have no concept of history believe that “We’ve never been more divided.” The problem isn’t the divisions or even the disagreement, it’s the method by which we have been manipulated into believing that we are so divided that nothing short of a third civil war can force the other side to acquiesce to what we want. On Monday a caller to Bill Mick Live brought up the idea that the COVID fiasco is less about medical science and more about the money behind the big green curtain. even Rod is on a rant lately about the money behind the vaccination. Even as I type this, hie is texting me articles from Forbes about how the founders of Moderna are making the list of America’s richest people during the pandemic. Listen, it’s absolutely true that money is power and power is politics. And I have not a doubt in my military mind that there is a HUGE money element to this whole… thing… Somebody is getting rich from the millions, if not the billions, of shots being forced into arms. And it’s not me. Or you. Money has always driven the end goal of the Nabobs, because money equals power. In point of fact, the entire American Revolution War about about the money. Who had it, and what they were using it to do… Which wasn’t who you might think that it was…

I was going to talk about the idea of money behind the politics of the day and how that actually led to one of the seminal events in history, the American Revolution. Daniel Craig showed up to the premier of No Time to Die, his final James Bond film, wearing a “raspberry colored velvet” jacket. This is an actual quote found in the London times about the jacket: “Personally, I think that, while there’s a touch of 70s cruise ship crooner to coloured velvet, it’s an impactful, playful choice that toys with the codes of Bond sartorialism…” Now… other than the fact that I love to spell the word “colour” with the letter “u” and having to look up the word “sartorialism” to make certain that I understood it in context, I frankly found the jacket to be smoking. If I had the doubloons to drop on it, I’d buy one in a heartbeat. Which is a great example of why I love podcasting so much…

Watching the ongoing screeching over the Arizona election Audit has only served to prove my point: (a) you will never overturn the election results and (b) you’re pissing people who might otherwise listen to you off. My grandparents and my mother used to say “You’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” It’s one of those Ye Olde “sermons in a Sentence” that we all know, but rarely stop to consider. Unless you happen to be in the PR bizz. A long time ago, two groups had a year long and quite bitter “debate” (18th Century for “argument”) over how to govern the country. Our general understanding of things today is that one side won and one side lost the debate. Today we face yet another great debate (argument) which pits us against each other, even on the same side of things. Will we realize that in 1789 neither Federalist nor Anti-federalist “won” outright?

The other day the MILSURPWRITER sent me a link to a video he had watched and on which wanted my thoughts. As usually happens in these discussions, the thought processes went from the actual content of the video in question to the ideas behind it and other presentations that we see each and every day. Which, of course, led us to a history discussion, because that’s what we do…

A whole lot of Conservatives who don’t live and have probably never lived in California, are losing what’s their of their minds over Gavin Newsome’s “unexpected” win in the recall election held last week. It can only be the result of cheating, malfeasance or (gasp) ballot machine fraud! Of course the reality is much different. People who are actually familiar with California told you that the recall had zero chance of succeeding, even if GOP sponsored polls said that it could. It lacked any unifying theme, ala the Gray Davis recall in 2003. Moreover, it demonstrates once again, the power of rumor and scuttlebutt over actual information and thought processes.
