EP-201 Toasted Grasshoppers Blowing Up In Seattle
27/04/2017 Duration: 09minToasted grasshoppers are all the rage right now at the Seattle Mariners Safeco Field. So far this year they’ve sold over 18,000 grasshoppers at the Poquitos concession stand (at $4 for a four-ounce cup), which was added as part of the Mariners strategy to add more of a local flair to their concessions. Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about why fans love the toasted grasshoppers. Is it for the taste or is it the experience? For as hot as the toasted grasshoppers are selling, the Mariners are majorly failing by limiting sales to just 312 orders per game. EP-200 The Good & Bad From Mizuno’s Rent A Glove Experience
25/04/2017 Duration: 12minMizuno just created their Mizuno Experience Center at Atlanta Braves Sunburst stadium where, among other things, fans can rent a glove for a game and test it for 48 hours. If they like it, their credit card is charged, otherwise they return it free of charge. Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about why they love this level of fan engagement, especially within the highly targeted audience Mizuno is looking to reach. At the Experience Center fans can also choose from 125 Mizuno bats to demo, play around at a golf swing lab and running lab, a volleyball wall, and cleat wall. Unfortunately, not everything Mizuno did was perfect. One area in which Mizuno failed at is not having a website built out for this and/or having a big social presence. This lack of complete digital execution misses huge opportunities where they could engage their audience, increase their awareness, and create positive brand interactions. In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldwide Brian Cristiano, and Founder of C

13/04/2017 Duration: 12minThe NHL playoffs just started and with it comes a journey for both the players and fans to win the greatest trophy in all of professional sports, the Stanley Cup. Because of the cache of Lord Stanley, the NHL has successfully engaged fans with its #becauseitsthecup and #myplayoffsmoment hashtags, getting them to send in photos and videos of them sharing their experience. What can teams do to encourage fans to send in more videos? On the other side of the pond, the NBA playoffs are set to start this weekend and they are in a different scenario than the NHL thanks to appealing to a larger, non-niche audience. It’s much easier for a casual fan to watch LeBron James or Steph Curry than it is Sidney Crosby or Patrick Kane. What can the NBA do to generate a similar level of fanaticism that the NHL has with #becauseitsthecup? Lastly, what can workplaces do to jump on the bandwagon of both these playoffs and encourage participation for their employees? In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldw

EP-193 When Will The Masters Grow Up?
06/04/2017 Duration: 13minHello Friends. The Masters is a tradition unlike any other. Steeped in a rich history of golf’s elite, it is seen as THE number one golf tournament. As much as I am a fan of The Masters, they are doing themselves no favors by refusing to adapt to the current digital era. Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about why The Masters needs to get with the times. From their no cell phones, cameras, or beepers (yes, beepers) policy, to not broadcasting the entire tournament on TV. The Masters is a prime example of why golf’s ratings and fandom have declined. “The good old boys” are only going to be around for so long, so The Masters needs to make some changes and start appealing to a younger generation. At the end Brian and Rob give actionable advice on what you can implement into your business from the way The Masters markets themselves. In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldwide Brian Cristiano, and Founder of Cress Media & Bacon Sports Rob Cressy give a forward-thinking perspective ab

EP-191 Pulling A Costanza By Doing The Opposite
04/04/2017 Duration: 15minIn an episode of Seinfeld George Costanza says, “My life is the opposite of everything I want it to be. Every instinct I have, in every area of life, be it something to wear, something to eat...Its all been wrong.” This compels him to do the complete opposite, with the logic that the opposite would have to be right if the way he’s doing things is currently wrong. Because of this episode of Seinfeld, Rob Cressy has implemented something in his life called “Pulling a Costanza” where he does the complete opposite of his normal routine. The goal of “Pulling a Costanza” is to experience life differently. To have a different energy for the day and do so with a smile and an open mind. When you do a new set of possibilities start to arise. Brian Cristiano also shares his version of “Pulling a Costanza” about how he challenged himself to walk home differently every day for 30 days to see what would happen. Both of these stories should inspire you to have an open mind, not be afraid of doing something different, and to
