Jeffrey Epstein’s life seems like a storybook American Dream. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1953 Epstein seemed to get by with an uncanny head for numbers. He was a college drop out at New York University but landed a job teaching math at the prestigious Dalton School in New York’s Upper East Side. When England decided to begin the colonization of Australia, then known as New South Wales, it was deemed necessary to help bolster the number of voluntary colonists with prisoners and undesirables. But when you send all your prisoners to be colonists where do you send the prisoners who can’t function as colonists? Answer: Tasmania. One notable location was timber station/turned prison that had begun its service in 1830. This prison housed the the worst of the worst from all over Australia, repeat offenders who could not serve a purpose even in a penal colony full of convicts.
