Sonny Liston was one of the best and most dominant heavyweight boxers of all time. He won the championship in 1962. But, Liston had grown up hard and had turned to crime early on to make money. During his boxing days, he continued some of his criminal activities and had a number of mob connections. His death in 1970 remains clouded in mystery. In this episode, we're discussing two unsolved murders that occurred near Cheyenne, Wyoming.  In 2003, 32-year-old Cheyenne resident Shawny Lee Smith was found brutally murdered by a rancher just over the state line in Colorado. Police began investigating reports of rough characters that may have been involved in the drug trade. Also, the trailer park where Shawny lived was known to be home to a number of individuals who had a criminal past. In 2001, Jamie Christopher Kamai was murdered while taking his daughter and his fiance's son to the babysitter. This appeared to police to be a murder that resulted from some type of road rage incident. There were a number of witnesses, including a small boy in the car, that witnessed a man in a truck who is thought to be Jamie's killer. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss these two Cheyenne unsolved murders. A new detective is now working both cases and has taken a number of novel approaches to solving the crimes. In 1967, James and Annie Mae Richardson were trying to make it in Arcadia, Florida. They both worked in an orange grove and had seven children whose ages ranged from two to eight. On Oct 25th, 1967, the unthinkable happened when all seven of the Richardson children became violently ill and were rushed to the hospital. Six of the children died that day and the seventh died the following day. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the heartbreaking case of the murders of the Richardson children. The police focused very quickly on the father James after finding some incriminating evidence at the family apartment. It didn't take a jury long to find James guilty in the murders of his children. 19-year-old Brittney Wood disappeared in May 2012 in Alabama. She had a small daughter who friends and family knew Brittney would not have abandoned. 19-year-old Jill Behrman was a bright and ambitious college student at Indiana University in Bloomington when she went missing in 2000. Her partial remains were later found in 2003 by a hunter.  Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the puzzling disappearance and murder of Jill Behrman. There were confessions over the years in Jill's case, all of which were later recanted. But one man, John Myers, had made a number of suspicious statements over the years. Police charged him with Jill's murder in 2006 and a jury ultimately convicted him for the murder. His conviction was later overturned and the state is currently appealing that decision and will wait to see whether they will retry Myers. In 1975, 15-year-old Martha Moxley was murdered in the wealthy town of Greenwich, Connecticut. This case drew national attention due to the fact that the Moxley's lived across the street from the Skakel family who had ties to the Kennedy clan.  Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the murder of Martha Moxley and the twists and turns in the case. In 2002, Evelyn Hernandez had a 5-year-old son named Alex and was almost 9 months pregnant with her second son. On May 1, 2002, both Evelyn and Alex disappeared. Evelyn's torso was later found floating in the San Francisco Bay but Alex has never been found. 10-year-old Zachary Ramsay disappeared on February 6, 1996, while walking to school. The school notified Zachary's mother that he had not made it and she called police to report him missing. The police and volunteers began a massive search for Zachary and they found a number of witnesses who saw the young boy that morning. In 1992, six murders occurred just off Interstate 70 in the states of Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri. At first, these appeared to be random on-off murders. They were committed many miles apart from each other and each law enforcement agency was unaware of the others. Eventually, they were linked through the use of ballistics. He picked smaller shops where most likely only one employee would be working, and most often that one employee would be a woman. Suzanne Lyall was a college student in New York who went missing in 1998. Suzanne worked very hard at everything she did. She was a good student, held down two jobs, and had great relationships with her friends and family. On the night of March 2nd, 1998, Suzanne finished up her shift at her job and boarded a bus back to her dorm. She was last seen getting off the bus around 9:40 but she never made it back to her dorm. The investigation into her disappearance did not start right away, something that her family worked hard to change through years of legislative changes. In January 1981, the body of a female was found in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. She had been stabbed to death. The body could not be identified and became known as Bossier Doe. Investigators put out her age range as between 16 and 20-year-old. They put out what she was wearing and other identifying features. But, for 34 years, the authorities could not identify Bossier Doe, nor could they solve her murder. It wasn't until 2015 that the authorities revealed that they had identified Bossier Doe as Carol Ann Cole. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the mysterious case of Bossier Doe / Carol Ann Cole. Carol Ann was originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, but had found her way to Louisiana. Authorities never gave up on Bossier Doe and it took both incredible skill and luck to finally identify her. From December 1884 to December 1885, an unknown killer terrorized the town of Austin, Texas. This person murdered 8 people and injured many more. The killer started out targeting African-American women who worked as servants in affluent Austin homes. For this reason, you will often see this case referred to as The Servant Girl Annihilator case, a term penned by an author back in the 1880s. Many of these women were dragged out of the home in the middle of the night and murdered with an ax. The killer left behind a signature or calling card in many of the murders. But questions abound in this case that may lead to clues about the killer. Why did the killers select the victims he did? Was it because he had some type of intimate knowledge of the homes that these servants lived/worked in? This case is also intriguing for the fact that many people have tried to tie this case in with Jack The Ripper. C
