Earlier this week we released Episode 93 with Matt D’Avella, Creating + Building An Audience Is Difficult. He was the director of Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things and now is the host of The Ground Up Show podcast. I had seen the documentary on Netflix in 2016 and it changed the way I saw the “things” in my life and made me realize having less was actually better. Not only did it clear up the clutter in my room because I had less “things” to worry about but I also felt I had clearer headspace - less shit to worry about and more time to focus on doing things I wanted to do. How do we find our passion? How do we find out purpose? That's the big question that we're all scrambling around trying to find the answer. Once you find it, you feel like you've hit the lottery because you wake up every day with a sense of direction. Matt D’Avella is the host of The Ground Up Show podcast as well as the director behind Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things. Raised in Lebanon Township, New Jersey he was the third of seven children. He found his passion for film early on and instead of sitting in the cafeteria in high school during lunch, he would spend any and all free time editing. At one point he and his brother Mark created a parody rap video Produce Paradise inside the grocery store they worked which landed them a 7 Million Dollar lawsuit. Fortunately for them they’ll got off the hook from paying and walked away with a check for $3,500.   After graduating from Temple University, $117k in student loans, having just purchased a brand new car and living at home, he would go on to pay off all of his debt within four years strictly from freelancing and understanding how to be smart with his money. With an email from Joshua Fields Millburn about an idea to create a documentary for The Minimalists, he was all on board. Passion

The best piece of advice I have to offer to any creatives is this. There is absolutely no wrong or right way to do anything! It's a game of trial & error, seeing what you like/dislike and adjusting along the way. There's no point in trying to follow the path of what other successful people have done because it won't work for us. This is our journey, create what you think is dope. As soon as I realized this I became more confident in my work and stopped stressing about everything being "perfect" because it's not supposed to be! Whether you're podcasting, launching your own business or whatever, it's all a work in progress. Be confident, get inspired by what others are creating and create what you think is DOPE! Many have asked "Hey bearded guy, why'd you start a podcast in the first place?" so here ya go. When I launched Purpose in the Youth in 2016 I didn't know one single person hosting one and now that's all I hear about. I highly suggest ANYONE with a passion start a podcast within that field. If you're an artist, start one talking to other artists. If you're an entrepreneur, start one talking to other entrepreneurs. You get the point? The key is starting them for the right reasons. I launched Purpose in the Youth in pursuit of finding my passion/purpose and that's why I began interviewing other passionate people. Slowly but surely, I found my thing... being THE worlds favorite bearded man! Sabina Gadecki is an actress and model who was featured in the movie Entourage and tv shows Law & Order, White Collar, House of Lies and The League. With her next film, The Ninth Passenger set to release in August and recently finishing up a shoot in Mexico for a Netflix series, she has been working towards this moment her entire life and the work is just beginning to stay consistent. Born and raised in Chicopee, MA by two Polish parents, one of the best lessons she learned from them was to live life and appreciate the small moments along the way. In high school she kept it cool with everyone and was into both dance and cheerleading. She won Miss Western MA, Miss Polonia and Miss Polonia World by the age of 19 which showed her she could do the things she loved all the while helping others along the way. Robbie Page is the Co-Founder of Tenzo Tea. While on the hunt for a coffee alternative that had health benefits, he and his best friend Steve O'Dell came across a clean, green, caffeine packed plant called Matcha. Realizing how much it helped them stay focused in their daily lives along with the other 20 or so health benefits, they launched Tenzo Tea with Matcha being the key ingredient. What started as solely an E-Commerce product in July of 2016 has evolved into over 160+ physical locations that continues to grow today. This the behind the scenes of this week's podcast Episode 90 Rob Lawless, a man on a mission to meet 10,000 people. After switching careers from Deloitte and RJMetrics, still not being fulfilled with what he was doing, he had this idea to go out there and connect with people to see where he’d end up. I had met Rob back in April after a mutual friend had connected us saying we had to meet and so we made some magic happen. Rob Lawless is a man on a mission. After switching careers from being a Business Analyst at Deloitte to an Outbound Sales Team member at software startup RJMetrics, he quit to pursue his own dream. Meet 10,000 people, have a one on one hour conversation with them and see where the road takes him. Raised in Norristown, PA life was pretty good for Rob. He was surrounded by loving parents, an older brother and sister and was the youngest of 16 cousins on his father's side of the family who all played a positive influence on him. Following both his siblings steps he attended Penn State. What he would realize about himself over the course of the next four years was his strength to be a connector of people. After bouncing around from both careers and realizing we don't have to be miserable and hate our job, he quit to pursue his new job. Connecting with people. Davin Gentry is a creator and artist who is the co-founder behind both Premium Co and Diet Starts Monday. Even with seeing himself on a billboard in Los Angeles, having hundreds of people waiting outside of his store or taking pictures with fans, it all feels natural to him because he feels he’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing at the time he’s supposed to be doing it. One Hispanic is an all around creative who is currently working with recording artist Khalid as his photographer and videographer traveling all over the world capturing timeless moments with him. If you bump into him at a show or somewhere on the streets you might see him rocking his clothing brand, GRIME. Raised in Queens, New York both his grandmother and grandfather positively influenced him as child and taught him the importance of family. Going to boarding school outside of Philly gave him a taste of photography and it also was where he formed his relationship with hip hop duo Moosh & Twist. With 2 years of college under his belt at Saint John’s University he left for a year to jump on tour and never went back.
