We hear from Ben Cherington, Derek Shelton, and Jason Mackey on Skenes and the differences in their answers. Crowley helped malfunction the start of our show and joined to explain why. Zeise and Starkey threw out the first pitch at the Pirates game on Friday with Austin on the field recording it. Last night in the NBA was stunning for the Knicks and the turning of the guard for the TWolves.

Joe and Paul think the Steelers did the right thing by declining the fifth-year option and running backs continue to be devalued. Teams aren't signing many running backs to second contracts. A lot of guys can get the job done at running back and the No. 1 RB for Super Bowl winners the last 10 years have not been first-round picks and guys with major investment. Starkey's mailbag. Time for the Pirates to trade a young arm for a bat? Time for Nick Gonzales to be here. What else needs to be done?

He didn't go any further than that. Mitch Keller shoved and pitched his best game of the season. The Pirates have played better defensively the last 12 games. Pirates reporter Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette joined the show to talk about Paul Skenes. The rotation is the one solid spot on the team right now that the Pirates can depend on. We listen to an answer Derek Shelton gave saying "no, he's scheduled to start in Indy" when asked if Skenes will be in Pittsburgh, but the no was quick and not a definitive no, leaving some speculation. Nick Gonzales has been very good in Triple-A utilizing a new swing design. He looks comfortable swinging this way and should be in the majors.
