Whether it’s a fast race, slow race, I'm equally as confident. For the rest of the outdoor season, it definitely helped me be not as concerned as the gun went off that I was going to be able to close well off of any kind of race.” Newly minted Olympian Nico Young joins the show after qualifying for his first Olympic team in the 10,000m at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. 22/06/2024 Duration: 26min

“Occasionally we do a really hard workout, but most of the time we just try to stay even-keeled. Two months of consistent training is better than three weeks with two hard workouts but then you're taking a week off because you're dinged up or sore… We really thought, let’s run the 5K pretty hard, I don't necessarily know if [Elle St. Pierre] ran all-out when she ran 14:32, but we wanted to see what it felt like to run a hard 1500 a week later, because [Prefontaine Classic] was going to be hard.” Team New Balance Boston coach Mark Coogan joins the show after a strong first day of competition for his team. 22/06/2024 Duration: 17min

“That’s what I was telling myself the whole time. I was just so committed to racing as hard as I can, and I was just like, ‘I think I can compete with those guys.’ I had that mindset the whole race. I was like, ‘I don't care if I get fourth, I don't even care if I get second or third and don't get to go.’ It was about conquering the disbelief that I've had the last few years that I could compete with those guys. So that was the plan.” Drew Hunter, 4th place finisher in the U.S. Olympic Trials 10,000m final, reflects on his performance last night, shares about the support he’s received since racing, what he’s learned since becoming a dad, and gives a few updates on Tinman Elite. • 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials Distance Events Preview + Predictions

    20/06/2024 Duration: 01h13min

Nothing beats the drama of the U.S. Trials. Unlike many other countries, which select their teams based on a combination of championship results and committee decisions, Team USA sets its team in the most objective way possible: top three at the Trials make the team. Of course, those athletes need to have achieved the Olympic standard or World ranking, so there still might be some numbers to crunch while athletes are handed those little American flags, but in most cases, it’s simple. You’ve got to perform your best on the day to book your ticket. Fans are frustrated that they're hearing these stories that the athletes, who they love to support, are frustrated that they’re not able to capitalize on their greatness. After one of the races in Eugene, McKenzie got emotional on-air on ESPN while dedicating her win to her mother, who died during this past indoor season. In this episode, McKenzie opens up about how she grieved and coped with the loss while in the middle of a season. She shares h
