In Much Less Detail: The Podcast

For the second Thursday this season already, a Thursday nighter finished in a push ATS, which works out for Dre as he almost locked in the Bucs.  Dre's on the road and Jay's at home, so Jay has no excuses for his picks this week.  The boys examine the matchup between two of the hottest offenses as the Chiefs visit the Texans, a battle of two surprising 3-1 squads as the Panthers go to Motown, and a game rich with distant and recent history as the Packers face the Cowboys.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Upset Sunday was capped off by Bad Beat Monday, making for a newsworthy Week 4 in the NFL.  Jay and Dre discuss improbable losses by the heavy favorite Patriots, Cowboys, and Falcons, the Chiefs covering the number with zeroes on the clock, and if the Texans all of a sudden should be considered serious contenders behind DeShaun Watson.  Then they pick the Thursday nighter: the greatest (system) QB of all time, Tom Brady, and New England versus Famous Jameis and Tampa Bay.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay was the man on the scene for an eventful Bears-Packers game, one that saw Green Bay romp and cost Jay and Dre a pick and Dre his Lock of the Week.  The guys recap a wild night, then get ready to pick winners and losers in Week 4 in the NFL.  The Saints and Dolphins are the lucky squads that get to play in London this week, the Lions or Vikings vie to be the team that keeps pace with the Pack in the NFC North, and the Raiders and Broncos fight it out in a big AFC West battle.   Aftershow: School bus hijinks from back in the day   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre play a little Hot or Not after three weeks of NFL play.  Are both 3-0 teams for real or are there any undefeated frauds?  Who looks likely to emerge from the muck of 2-1 teams?  The boys check out the happenings of Week 3, which saw Odell Beckham return to excellence only to watch the Giants fall to a 61-yd. field goal, the Titans answer a champion's challenge, the Steelers stumble in Chicago, and the Texans show much moxie and weakness in their shootout loss to the Patriots.  Then they pick the Thursday night game that Jay will witness live in person, the latest iteration of Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers.   Aftershow: Anthem kneeling and the sociopolitical factors surrounding it   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

All those who had the Rams posting 41 points and the 49ers 39 on Thursday night, raise your hand.  Now put them down because you're all liars.  Jay and Dre laugh about a wild football game that ultimately ended up meaning nothing for their picks, then they discuss NFL's week 3 slate, which sees yet another edition of the London Jaguars as they play the Ravens, an interesting meeting of 2-0 squads between the Falcons and Lions, Seattle trying to get their offense on track as they visit Nashville, and a rematch of the baffling playoff game from January between the Texans and Patriots.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Even a Monday night lock based on classic Overreaction Theatre couldn't stop Dre from steamrolling to a career-best 14-2 Week 2 ATS, including all seven head-to-head over Jay.  Dre tries not to let his huge head get in the way of recapping the events of Week 2 with Jay, which saw only six of the 15 weekend games finish within one possession.  The Patriots once again answered their doubters, the Bucs and Fins took advantage of their extra long runup to Game 1, and no one at the moment can stop the Raiders.  Then the guys pick another execrable Thursday night matchup, this one pitting Jared Goff's Rams against Brian Hoyer's Niners.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

The ugliest football game in some time occurred Thursday night.  Hopefully Dre imploring everyone to crush the under made some cash for some lucky listeners.  Jay and Dre get you prepped for Week 2 in the NFL as they ponder whether Alex Smith can provide an encore as his Chiefs host Andy Reid's ex-wives the Eagles, whether Tom Brady can bounce back as his Patriots visit Drew Brees and the Saints, whether the Vikings can repeat their all-around performance as they take on Big Ben and the Steelers, and whether the Packers and Falcons in Atlanta's new stadium bow will have another classic.   Aftershow:  The Jemele Hill brouhaha   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Dre's AFC Super Bowl pick, the Texans, yanked their QB after one half, and both Dre and Jay missed their Locks of the Week.  It was a wild and unpredictable Week 1 in the NFL, which is bad for guys who try to predict things.  But the boys will discuss if the Cowboys are ready to dominate in the NFC again now that they have their star RB for the whole year, if the Bengals getting blanked at home on Opening Day should accelerate Marvin Lewis's canning, and if the Packers should feel good or bad about winning a game in which they didn't score in the first half.  Then they decide which trainwreck gets back on track Thursday night as DeShaun Watson (?) and Houston visit Andy Dalton and Cincinnati.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

It's always good to start the season correct, and Jay and Dre both had the Chiefs with the points on Thursday night at New England.  But what the hell was that?  The guys discuss the outcome that nobody predicted, then they try to predict the rest of Week 1 in the NFL, which has an exciting matchup of up-and-comers in Raiders-Titans, championship QBs battling as the Seahawks visit the Packers, and yet another Week 1 Sunday night media market ratings-grabbing Giants-Cowboys game.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0
