In Much Less Detail: The Podcast

Jay and Dre recall their respective Christmases before recalling an active Week 16 in the NFL.  The Seahawks sang some Bee Gees while beating the Cowboys to stay alive in the NFC, the Eagles blocked the Vikings from hosting a potential NFC title game, the Chiefs wrapped up a division crown, and the Jags did too (no thanks to Messiah Garoppolo).  Then it's on to the coin flip that is the picks for Week 17, and this year, Jay takes over coin-flipping duties.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

So many questions float throughout this holiday season, such as: Is Santa Claus real? What is the true meaning of Christmas? What is a catch? Why is the football given to the opponents at the 20 when fumbled through the end zone but returned neatly to the possessing team when fumbled anywhere else?  Jay and Dre try to provide answers to some of those questions as they review a wild Week 15 in the NFL, including an excruciating finish in the Patriots-Steelers clash and Jay winning the lock-off from Dre.  Then they look forward to Week 16 and make their picks.  Ezekiel Elliott makes his return as the Cowboys battle the reeling Seahawks for playoff contention, the Titans try to stay relevant as they host the Rams, who still could vie for a bye, the Falcons still have a shot at the NFC South if they take down the Saints, and the Jaguars improbably clinch the AFC South if they can find a way to knock off Messiah Garoppolo and the 49ers.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

There's still money to be made picking the right sides even among non-contenders, so Jay and Dre sift through all the action and make their picks for Week 15 in the NFL.  Certainly, high stakes games abound as well, with New England visiting Pittsburgh in what should be the deciding factor in which squad would have home field advantage in a future AFC title tilt.  Seattle can step right back into controlling the NFC West if they sweep the Rams.  The Chargers and Chiefs get it on for supremacy in the AFC West.  And Aaron Rodgers must play quality football immediately upon returning to active duty for Green Bay as they battle Carolina.   Aftershow: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's newest members   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Another eventful Sunday in the NFL will be reviewed by Jay and Dre.  Carson Wentz blows out his knee but keeps playing initially, showing his toughness, but now all that matters for the Eagles is, how ready is Nick Foles to recreate the Wentz magic?  The Steelers win another wild game in which they were losing, this time clinching their division in the process.  What can be made of how Pittsburgh is playing right now?  Can Kansas City or Green Bay keep the momentum going and finish the season strong?  After the live show, the boys pick the final Thursday night contest of 2017, featuring two down-on-their-Luck franchises as Denver travels to Indianapolis.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre look back on a memorable Week 13 in the NFL.  Jay said that Ben McAdoo has been trying to get fired with his antics involving the New York Giants QBs, and by gum, he finally did it.  Dre searched and searched for a Cleveland Browns cover, and he finally found it.  And both said Seattle would man up and give Philadelphia its biggest fight, and they did.  The boys also cover suffocating road wins by the Patriots and Vikings, the mess that is the AFC West, and yet another hard-to-watch battle of hard hits and cheap shots as Pittsburgh rallies but can't beat the number in Cincinnati.  Then they make their picks for Week 14, featuring the Vikings and Panthers in what should be a very physical contest, the Eagles and Rams in what could be a high-flying matchup, and the Raiders and Chiefs shockingly fighting for the division lead.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Somehow, the Cowboys managed to win a game without Ezekiel Elliott or Sean Lee, surprising the IMLD hosts and sending Cowboy Nation into convulsions.  Jay and Dre try to rebound from the events of last night and look ahead to the rest of NFL Week 13.  Will Minnesota go for eight wins in a row or will Atlanta continue their offensive revival?  Will Carolina or New Orleans jump ahead in the NFC South?  Will New England effectively clinch the AFC East or does Buffalo still have some fight?  And will Alex Smith revert back to early season form or will a loss to the Jets finally spell the end of his Chiefs run?   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

As an unusual NFL season starts to approach the final turn, one thing is clear:  Jay is figuring out the soup much quicker than Dre.  Dre hasn't won a week ATS since Week 6, and Jay cut a couple more games off his lead.  The guys weigh in on which is the best "let it ride" wager the rest of the way--all Eagles, Falcons, Patriots, Rams, Vikings...maybe an off-the-board heat seeker such as the Chargers or Panthers?  And who's the best thumbs-down "short the stock" pick--the Browns, Giants, Jets, Bears...or maybe a faltering power like the Chiefs or Cowboys?  Then they make their picks for the NFC East Thursday night rendition of Cowboys and Indians as Kirk Cousins and Washington face Dak Prescott and Dallas.   Aftershow: Which teams should you let it ride the rest of the year?  Which should you totally short?   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Dre played the role of Thanksgiving turkey with three losses in the Triple Gobble, while Jay continued his hot run by winning two.  They chat about the events of Thursday before picking over the rest of NFL Week 11 ATS, which sees the Rams for two straight weeks in the most anticipated matchup, this time hosting the Saints, the Chiefs desperately seeking to regain their mojo as they welcome Tyrod Taylor and the Bills, and the Pats, Eagles, and Steelers all hoping to not let the holiday leave them fat and happy as they try not to gag against much lesser competition.   Aftershow: Thanksgiving recap and gambling stories   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

There were good calls and bad from Jay and Dre in Week 11, as is the case every week.  But there's a feeling of achievement in both obtaining their first winning week as a duo this season, and maybe that means there's some clarity finally arriving in the NFL.  The boys look back on the events of last week, including the victorious Vikings, the somewhat stumbling Saints, the erupting Eagles, and the choking Chiefs.  Then it's time for the Triple Gobble--the picks ATS for all three Thanksgiving duels.  This year, it's Minnesota trying to keep the momentum in Motown, the Chargers looking to hang another home "L" on the Cowboys, and the baffling Giants in DC against Kirk Cousins and the Redskins.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre may want to celebrate finally winning a Thursday night pick as the Steelers handled the Titans, but they can't feel proud for too long.  The schedule looks tough for the rest of Week 11.  Making up for only one game in Week 10 featuring two winning teams, this week sees three such matchups, not counting Thursday.  The guys dig into the styles clash between the L.A. A tough season of choosing Locks of the Week continued for Jay and Dre, but the tougher week probably belonged to the Bills, Cowboys, Broncos, and G-Men.  The boys take a look at who emerged from the soup in Week 10 and who fell back in the stew, and they ask what kind of NFL it is when the 2nd bye in the NFC looks to be a fight between the Saints, Rams, and Vikings.  Then they pick sides for an AFC battle this coming Thursday between contenders Tennessee and Pittsburgh.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

As Jay and Dre ponder how much Jeremy Lane had riding on the hook to motivate his all-out effort in blocking the PAT Thursday night, the guys also look ahead to the rest of the Week 10 docket in the NFL.  Only one game features two teams with winning records, and that's the Saints with a defense always potentially awful versus the Bills with an offense always potentially stagnant.  The rest of the games have that soupy feel that has plagued the league all year.  How will they sort out who's worth picking?  Only one way to find out!   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

In a Week 9 colored by frustration and violence (Mike Evans and A.J. Jay and Dre wonder what it will take for them to stop backing road teams on Thursday night after their third such loss in a row thanks to the Jets taking down the Bills.  Then they look at the rest of NFL Week 9.  On the ledger: Brock Osweiler gets back in the saddle for the Broncos as they try to fly past the Eagles, Houston starts life without DeShaun Watson as they host the Colts, and Ezekiel Elliott pulls a Groundhog Day and wakes up to another Sunday where he plays for the Cowboys, this time against Kansas City.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

On All Hallows Eve, the spooky and inexplicable continues to haunt the NFL in Week 8.  Jay and Dre ponder how the Raiders fell victim to the now 6-2 Bills, how the Texans walked into Seattle and put 38 on the Legion of Boom and managed not to win, and why Broncos coach Vance Joseph won't bench the atrocious Trevor Siemian.  Then they examine the Week 9 leadoff game Thursday night, an AFC East tilt between two teams thought to be tanking before the season started, Sean McDermott's Buffalo Bills and Todd Bowles' New York Jets.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

What makes Jay's 6-7 week look like a triumphant success?  Dre's putrid 3-10 week does.  The guys discuss a week and season that sums up the NFL--dizzying and inconsistent.  How did Jacksonville dominate Indianapolis without Leonard Fournette, and how did Blake Bortles post a 300-yard passing performance?  How did John Fox once again author a victory with his starting QB barely present?  How did three different teams in today's NFL with all the rules legislating defense get shut out?  How did the boys both louse up their Locks so terribly?  And is the best team in football right now Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles?  Later, they try to pick a winner as two of the more inconsistent teams do battle when Matt Moore takes the Fish upstream to face Joe Flacco and the Ravens.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

It was a wild ride in Oakland Thursday night, and those who hung in there for the finish saw a crazy outcome between the Chiefs and Raiders.  It was insane, it was an awesome atmosphere...and a loss for Jay and Dre on the very last play.  The boys discuss the leader in the clubhouse for Game of the Year, then they pick NFL Week 7 ATS.  The Super Bowl rematch takes place in Foxboro between the Falcons and Patriots, Washington tries to stop what might be a Philly romp to the NFC East crown, Brett Hundley gets his first start as Aaron Rodgers' understudy as Green Bay hosts the Saints, and two soccer stadiums host American football games--the Chargers in Carson, CA against the Broncos, and the Cardinals facing the Rams in London's Twickenham Stadium.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

On a week that saw two favorites cover the number out of 13 games, Jay and Dre are tasked with trying to make sense of it all.  The obvious question after Week 6 in the NFL is: How screwed are the Packers without Aaron Rodgers?  Other developments included the rebirth (?) of Adrian Peterson, the officiating catastrophe costing the Jets, the boys falling for the Steel trap in Kansas City, and Dre's atrocious parlay card.  They'll try to start Week 7 right by choosing which AFC West crew they're rolling with--Andy Reid's Chiefs or Jack Del Rio's Raiders.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0
