The 91st Academy Awards will be distributed on Sunday, so once again it's time for Jay and Dre to go over the nominees with Dave the Movie Expert, who earned that name because he's actually watched the movies being nominated.  Dre watched one of them, Black Panther, and everyone had a chance to watch another one, Roma, because it's on Netflix.  It's also the prohibitive favorite.  Will one of the other films from a very diverse field sneak in for the Oscar?  Will there be any acting upsets among all those top picks?  And every year from now on, we must wonder: Will the right winning envelope be read the first time?   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

The looming Colin Kaepernick collusion lawsuit against the NFL was settled out of court, and initial reports say that the blackballed-for-kneeling former QB received upwards of $80 million in a tacit admission of guilt.  Jay and Dre discuss the ramifications of the settlement for the league, for Kaepernick, and for free speech on the job by future athletes.  The boys also chat about the new post-Super Bowl pro football league and its first two weeks of existence.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

The road domination in Wild Card weekend did not carry over, and all four home teams came through in the Divisional Round, though the Saints could not cover versus those scrappy underdog Eagles.  Jay and Dre discuss the wide variety of tactics the winners used in the conference semifinals before they pick the two conference finals.  Jay has to make up ten points with 13 available in the IMLD handicapping contest, so he'll be forced to go the opposite of Dre in both games.  First, for the NFC title, it's the league's 2nd-ranked scoring team, the Los Angeles Rams, visiting the 3rd-ranked New Orleans Saints.  Then in crisp conditions, for the AFC title, it's the 4th-ranked New England Patriots travelling to face the top-ranked Kansas City Chiefs.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Who needs a great regular season when you can just cash on every single playoff game??  Jay takes a lap coming off his 4-0 ATS Wild Card weekend, while Dre tries to figure out what went wrong and get back on the right track.  The guys recap a first round of the playoffs that saw no home teams cover the number and three divison champs get dispatched.  Then they pick the Divisional Round games.  On Saturday, Frank Reich's stampeding Colts get a crack at Andy Reid's explosive Chiefs, then Jason Garrett takes the Cowboys to the Coliseum against Sean McVay's rested Rams.  On Sunday, Anthony Lynn's road warriors, the Chargers, go back East again to face Bill Belichick's AFC champion Patriots, then Doug Pedersen's never-say-die World champion Eagles get another tough task trying to tame Sean Payton's dynamic Saints.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Wild Card Weekend kicks off tomorrow, and Jay and Dre give their picks for the first four playoff games of 2019.  On Saturday, DeShaun Watson's Houston Texans take their rightful place early Saturday afternoon as they host Andrew Luck's Indianapolis Colts, who split the season series with them.  Then Super Bowl champ Russell Wilson leads the Seattle Seahawks into Jerryworld to tackle Dak Prescott's Dallas Cowboys, who went down in Seattle in Week 3.  On Sunday, Philip Rivers takes the Los Angeles Chargers cross country early in the day for another battle with Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens, who subdued the Bolts in LA a couple of weeks ago.  Then Nick Foles and the eternal underdog Philadelphia Eagles begin their title defense in the Windy City against Mitch Trubisky's Chicago Bears.   Theme music credit: "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre are joined by guest picker Coin to give their best efforts at predicting what the heck will happen in Week 17 in the NFL.  On the docket:  The Colts and Titans vie for a playoff spot on Sunday night, and either would take the AFC South if the Texans somehow stumble against the Jaguars, the Ravens take the AFC North if they hold off the hot Browns, and if they don't the Steelers steal the division with a win over the Bengals, the Vikings are a Wild Card team if they knock off the Bears, but if they don't then Nick Foles and the champion Eagles back into the playoffs with a victory at the Redskins, and the Chiefs wrap up the AFC West and home field by putting down the Raiders, but if by chance they don't then the Chargers take home field if they can win in Denver.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

It's a football party!  Jay and Dre host two hours of gridiron gabbing as Week 16 fast approaches.  They will chat briefly about last week's action and fallout, then make their picks ATS for the penultimate chapter of this football season.  On the docket: The Ravens and Chargers battle on Saturday for the right to give a division leader the night sweats, Kansas City (at Seattle) or Pittsburgh (at New Orleans) clinch a division title if one of their rivals falls Saturday night, Houston can wrap the AFC South by winning at a depleted but dangerous Philadelphia, Dallas (vs. Tampa) and New England (vs. Buffalo) with bounceback victories take down their divisions, and if things break right, Minnesota can back into the playoffs with a win in Motown.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

You know the season's winding down when the league starts trying to pick up the betting junkies left behind by the end of college football's regular season.  Jay and Dre have your picks for Week 15 in the NFL against the spread, including the Saturday action.  On the docket:  Green Bay would boost their unlikely path to the playoffs by sweeping Chicago (but the Bears with a win wrap up the NFC North), New England can (finally) clinch the AFC East by handling Pittsburgh as they did last year, Indianapolis tries to stay in the playoff hunt by beating a hot Dallas unit that takes the NFC East with a win, and if Carolina wants to stay alive they have to take down a New Orleans squad trying to stay a neck ahead of the Rams for NFC home field.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre talk about a wild Week 14 in the NFL.  What was Bill Belichick thinking putting his half-crippled TE in as the last line of defense against Miami?  How stupidly talented is Pat Mahomes completing no-look passes? How worried should Houston be getting toasted at home by Andrew Luck and the Colts?  How scary can the Cowboys become if Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper are a combo that can't be stopped?  How impressive were those big nighttime home wins by the Bears and Seahawks?  And how the hell did Pittsburgh lose to Oakland???  There will also be an announcement concerning a format change to the show for next year.  Then the boys pick the final Thursday nighter of 2018, and it should be a doozy as two double-digit win teams square off when Philip Rivers and the Bolts face Andy Reid's Chiefs.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Four weeks remain in the NFL regular season, and Jay and Dre make their picks for Week 14.  On the docket:  The Rams take their spectacular offense to the Windy City to grapple the Bears defense, the Ravens take their talented defense to Kansas City to face the Chiefs' high-powered offense, first place in the NFC East is on the line as the Eagles battle the Cowboys, and the two current NFC Wild Card squads face off as the Vikings visit the Seahawks.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

The Rams clinch the NFC West, but that wasn't the least bit buzzworthy after a newsy Week 13.  The Mike McCarthy Death Watch comes to an end, the Texans keep rolling, the Panthers keep choking, Lamar Jackson keeps winning, Chase Daniel leads Chicago in a stunning comeback and still loses to the Giants, Jacksonville "wins" a brutal one over Indy, and for the second consecutive week, Pittsburgh gives masters-degree-level lessons in how to blow a game.  Then Jay and Dre try to guess who shows up on Thursday night in the one traditional prime-time matchup that the least amount of people want to see, Jacksonville versus Tennessee.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre check in on which teams handled their post-Thanksgiving business and which had too much pumpkin pie.  Philadelphia is still in the hunt for the NFC East, Seattle is a prime Wild Card contender after a big road win in Charlotte, Minnesota gets back on track as well after knocking down Green Bay, Baker Mayfield and Cleveland throw shade at poor Cincinnati, and Houston, like native sons the Geto Boys, can't be stopped.  Then the guys pick the upcoming Thursday night affair between two Thanksgiving winners on a full week's rest, the red-hot New Orleans Saints and the potent Dallas Cowboys.    Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

There are no words to describe the explosion of yards and points we saw Monday night at the LA Coliseum, but Jay and Dre host a football talk show, so they will try to find the words.  They will also discuss Jay nailing the Kirk Cousins implosion in Chicago and both (sorta) nailing the Jags putting up a fight against the Steelers for three quarters, at least.  There are also no words to describe how creepy it was to see Redskins QB Alex Smith's leg snap on the anniversary of Joe Theismann's, and it happened in front of Joe!  Then it's time for the annual Triple Gobble Thanksgiving picks: The Bears try to continue rolling as they face the Lions, then Cowboys & Indians get national treatment as Colt McCoy leads Washington into Dallas, then in prime time it's another potential 100-pt. bonanza as the Falcons visit the Saints.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

As the country prepares to give thanks next week, the league rolls on with Week 11 action, and Jay and Dre have all the picks against the spread.  On the docket: a proving ground battle of 6-3 contenders as Houston goes to Washington, an AFC playoff rematch as Pittsburgh travels to Jacksonville, a huge hurdle for the faltering champions as Philly visits New Orleans, and two big nighttime clashes as Minnesota takes on Chicago for control of the NFC North, followed on Monday by a scoreboard-busting main event of 9-1 squads as Kansas City walks into the Coliseum to face the Los Angeles Rams.   Aftershow: Old Chicago memories   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0

Jay and Dre survive what looked like a very dangerous weekend to pick NFL games vs. the spread.  The guys dig into a successful Week 10 which featured a total destruction of Cincy by the Saints, a physical domination of the Pats by the Winnin' Ugly Titans, a Chiefs team so bored with success that they have to commandeer TV cameras after scoring, a backdoor cover for Dre's Lock and a shockingly competent Buffalo QB outing to bust Jay's Lock.  Then they take sides in a Thursday night "QB Champs Only" enounter between Aaron Rodgers' Pack and Russell Wilson's Seahawks.   Theme music credit:  "Anthemic" by Djmarbll   CC BY-SA 3.0
