Part 2 of a message on our need of daily bread.

It was obvious that the children of Israel would die in the desert if God did not provide food and water for them. It is less obvious to most of us that we are in the same situation.

God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints...

Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." but how are we to know the will of God with any certainty?

The City of God, according to Augustine, consists of everyone united by love for God and the desire for His glorification. The City of Earth is populated, conversely, by all who love self and seek ultimately their own glory and good.

His disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

Paul's desire for the Colossians is that their hearts would be encouraged, that they would be knit together in love, that they would enjoy full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, and that no one would delude them with plausible sounding arguments.

Land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.

Paul claims to have come to his knowledge of the gospel via a "word from the Lord". How does Paul's "word" differ from the many so called "prophetic words" floating around charismatic churches in our day?

We believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

The young believers in Thessalonica have heard that Jesus will soon be returning to judge the world and to gather His followers for a great reunion celebration. While this is an exciting prospect and an important part of the gospel message it has also caused not a few concerns.

Land that bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.

For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures...

A tale of two criminals.

This passage is one of the most dissected, discussed, debated and denied of the entire Bible. The focus of all the debate is Paul’s reference to the “catching up” of the church in 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

This is the will of God, your sanctification that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honour, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.
