At UFC 248, in the main event Israel Adesanya defeated Yoel Romero via unanimous decision in an unusually slow fight. In the co-main event, Zhang Weili defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk via split decision to retain her strawweight title. The bout could serve as the greatest women's fight in UFC history. Elsewhere, Beneil Dariush viciously knocked out Drakkar Klose and Neil Magny outclassed Li Jiangliang. To open the main card, Alex Oliveira scored a split decision victory over Max Griffin in a bloody war. On the preliminary card, Sean O'Malley got back to action after a two-year layoff, Mark O. Madsen scored a unanimous decision victory, Rodolfo Vieira secured a first-round submission victory, Gerald Meerschart upset Deron Winn and more. At UFC 245, Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman battled in the main event where Usman won via fifth-round stoppage. In the co-main event, Max Holloway put his featherweight title up for grabs against Alexander Volkanovski. In a decision victory, Volkanovski defeated Holloway to become the new champion. In the feature fight, Amanda Nunes defended her belt against Germaine de Randamie, although it got difficult in moments.
