Convicted Cinephiles

This week the panel goes R-rated, as their first restricted movies are examined. Stevil, Michaela and guest Rachel Taylor dissect each of the panels choices. Matty Dub the absentee gets his pick in too. Rachel's pick is sci-fi gold and Michaela's choice terrifies both of the ladies. The guys picks are laughable (in Stevil's case) and completely jacked on steroids. So if you're of age, check it out, if you're not, well we're like the movie theatres in the early 90's, pretty damn lax on checking IDs. 

Time to get creepy with Convicted Cinephiles, as we welcome Shane Birley into the cave. Shane brings the topic "Movies That Make Your Skin Crawl...With Spiders!" Together our brave heroes discuss the greatest (or just good) spider films, Arachnaphobia, Eight Legged Freaks and Kingdom of the Spiders. From ridiculous radioactive spiders to Shatner bedding every woman in small-town America, the A-Z of these "classics" are tackled so you'll be prepared for any attack coming to YOUR town. It's for your safety, citizens!

With Michaela on vacation, Stevil and Matty Dub welcome Nate Kelly back to the show for a monsterous episode, as we talk about the Guillermo del Toro blockbuster, Pacific Rim. All the pertinent facts about this film are discussed, like how Jon Belushi really died. We answer the hard-hitting questions like what the last good Adam Sandler movie was, and Stevil and Nate find out pretty quickly that they are drift-compatible, leaving Matty feeling like he missed out on an existential level. Are you ready for a robotic adventure? Do you even drift, bro?

A month after it's release, Convicted Cinephiles is here to talk Man of Steel, but not before our hosts and re-occuring guest JJ Webb run through all of the Superman films. Deciding on good and bad portrayals of Lois Lane and discussing the terrible Hackman, our panel destroys the nostalgia of our childhood like Metropolis in Zack Snyder's latest Kal-El story. Stevil gets some much needed rant time about the new Justice League direction. You may just agree with him. All in a day's work, citizen! 

This week Convicted Cinephiles is moseying down that dusty trail and headed right into a brutal and bloody gun battle, as our hosts and special guest DemiGod Rob spotlight the great Sam Peckinpah. Picking four films from his illustrious career, we delve deep into the booze, drugs prostitutes and misogyny that made this insane filmmaker so captivating. No drugs or hookers were used in the making of this podcast.

A new Convicted Cinephiles is here and this time we aimed to disappoint... ourselves. Third act movie fails are discussed this week as Stevil, Matty and Michaela bring a film that starts off promising and leaves you with nothing but frustration. Matty takes up all of our time bringing a 4 hour movie to the party and the guys deem Michaela's pick a thourough win. So join us and get ready to be let down.

Time to head to the cave and talk movies! This week JJ Webb is back to talk the Iron Man trilogy, spoilers and all. Our favourite Tony Stark moments, villains and ask the age old question, "What's so bad about Gwenyth Paltrow?" We stumble into Marvel plotholes and mistakes and then Matty crushes Michaela's dream of watching Moon. We built this podcast in a cave, with a bunch of scraps!

It's all eye-patches, trucker hats and mysterious sunglasses this time around on Convicted Cinephiles. Stevil, Matty Michaela and their guest JJ Webb sit down to talk about the Master of Horror, John Carpenter. Endless love is given to Kurt Russell, Keith David and 10 minute fight scenes, and the group experiences actual horror in having to watch the film JJ brought to the party. Much to Steve's delight Matty brings a good ol' 90's Elroy film, Michaela comes to the table with a Duplass indie darling, and Steve mucks it all up with some twisted Cronenerg confusion. MegaSteak Man is in the Mancave this week. Fresh off of a win in the Virgin Radio Fake Film Festival, Kial and Tarek sit down with Matty and Steve to share the mysterious origins of their award winning viral video channel. Find out how the interent reacted to Pokemon Apocalypse; Kial gets technical and explains the difficulty of being a busy filmmaker; and the guys give us a taste of their 'Rejected Ideas Pile'. We probably won't see Sperminator, the cock-blocking robot from the future any time soon, but trust he has an awesome catch-phrase. Matty Dub and The Stevil Dead bring their favorite 'Made In BC' flicks to the table to prove that BC can double as just about anywhere. Matty gives Steve a rundown of the Oscars, the boys defend Quvenzhane Wallis, and Anne Hathaway should suck it up in Les Mis.
