Synopsis
By harmonizing the four Gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John -- we will study the life of Christ in chronological order, from the first utterances of the angels heralding His birth, to His crucifixion and resurrection. It is our sincere hope and expectation that as we immerse ourselves in Jesus' life and ministry, we will fall more deeply in love with Him, and become more and more like Him.

1 Peter in HD (Part 18) -- A Life-Giving Touch of Kindness
04/11/2018 Duration: 30minLife is short. People are fragile. So very, very fragile. We who have committed our lives to a Gentle Jesus should of all people be a cascade of kindness to others. As you are about to hear in this PODCAST, that is Peter’s message to you and me today. Pretty basic. In a perfect world (which ours is not), this should not even need to be said. But sadly, it does need to be said. And we need to be reminded that… Life is short. People are fragile. We who have committed our lives to a Gentle Jesus should of all people be a cascade of kindness to others. 1 Peter in HD (Part 17) -- "The God of All Comfort"
28/10/2018 Duration: 46minIt is the single saddest day on the Jewish calendar. As you are about to hear in this PODCAST, that statement, purposely given with the present tense “is,” is true today. It was equally true for Peter’s original Jewish readers. One day each year, indelibly imprinted on the collective psyches of our Jewish friends then and now. “It is today as it was then.” A day which reads in English, “the ninth day of the month of Av” (usually around our month of August). In Hebrew it is called, Tisha B’Av. If we don’t understand what this day is all about, we will not understand what the closing verses of 1 Peter 1 are all about. For Peter’s original readers. And for us! Please remember that depending upon your web browser and connection speed, it may take up to 60 seconds for this podcast to begin to play. God bless you richly as you listen.

1 Peter in HD (Part 16) -- Family Matters
21/10/2018 Duration: 56minThere is a play-on-words in 1 Peter 1:22. As you will hear in this PODCAST, an insightful play-on-words that we miss to our peril. Coming as it does from Peter’s pen, I can assure you that this play-on-words is most-intentional. Pregnant with meaning poignantly personal to Peter, and to us as well. This play-on-words is a bit of a pun—not humorous at all, but serious in the extreme—that goes straight to the heart of what it means to be committed-Christ-follower now, today, in our current Christian culture. Please remember that depending upon your web browser and connection speed, it may take up to 60 seconds for this podcast to begin to play. God bless you richly as you listen.

1 Peter in HD (Part 15) -- Redeemed! How I Love to Proclaim It!
14/10/2018 Duration: 42minIt is one of the most beautiful words to appear anywhere in the Bible. So beautiful, as you will hear in this PODCAST, that the biblical writers invoke this word one hundred one times. Peter will employ it in 1 Peter 1:18 when he writes these 3 amazing words: "You were redeemed." That is a declarative sentence, causing us to ask, What’s the picture??? The biblical picture of redemption. I’ll give you a hint: It all has to do with one of the so-called Minor Prophets. Minor in terms of his book’s length; MAJOR in terms of its message. 1 Peter in HD (Part 14) -- This Little Light of Mine
07/10/2018 Duration: 43minWhat does it mean to “be holy”? As you are about to hear in this PODCAST, the answer is remarkably simple and practical. So simple and practical that you don’t need a seminary degree to understand this. And yet, were I a betting man, I would be willing to wager that “be holy” means something vastly different than many of us have been led to believe it means. You, my friend, are in for a treat! 1 Peter in HD (Part 13) -- Etched in Stone
30/09/2018 Duration: 49minOf all of the things that Peter could have told his unsettled refugee readers, why in the world would he challenge them to “be holy”? Oh my friends, as you are about to hear in this PODCAST, the answer is far more profound than we could ever imagine. Seriously. 1 Peter in HD (Part 12) -- "Prone to Leave the God I Love"
23/09/2018 Duration: 35minWhat you are about to hear in this PODCAST is Peter’s most powerful appeal. One born in Peter’s greatest failure. It is true that our most powerful life-message comes not out of our spectacular successes, but rather out of our epic failures. So be encouraged. 1 Peter in HD (Part 11) -- The Prophets Spoke (Boy, did they ever!)
16/09/2018 Duration: 47minPeter wrote that the prophets “searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances (of the predicted) sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.” That time had now come. And as you are about to hear in this PODCAST, it was amazing! Last week, we made the point that the portrait of Jesus painted in the Old Testament, by the Old Testament prophets, was dramatically detailed and stunningly complete. Just reading the Old Testament leaves the reader with nothing left to the imagination as far as Jesus is concerned. Oh sure. The New Testament adds a bit of color here, some contours there. Think of the Old Testament as a black & white photo of Jesus in contrast to a New Testament color image—vivid color at that! The New Testament is not so much new revelation about Jesus—His incarnation, ministry, crucifixion, resurrection—as it is a magnifying glass that allows us to see a bit more detail that was already there on the canvas of Old Testament. So we are n

1 Peter in HD (Part 10) -- A Most-Prophet-able Study (Pun Intended)
09/09/2018 Duration: 39minAs you are about to hear in this PODCAST, eight times in only three verses—1 Peter 1:10-12—Peter draws our focused-attention to “the Prophets.” Referring, of course, to the Old Testament Prophets. Individuals—many of whom paid for their prophecies literally with their lives. Individuals to whom we owe our heritage as committed followers of Jesus. Individuals who painted a stunningly complete portrait of exactly who Jesus is centuries before a certain baby boy was born in Bethlehem. Individuals worthy of our time and attention. Please remember that depending upon your web browser and connection speed, it may take up to 60 seconds for this podcast to begin to play. God bless you richly as you listen.
