Episodes

  • Episode 231: Animal Crossing New Horizons Review, Doom Eternal Review

    26/03/2020 Duration: 56min

Two complete polar opposites. One is calm, relaxing, charming, peaceful and pleasant and the other is intense, stressful, in your face, over the top and gratuitous. And also Ben and Adam have played Animal Crossing and Doom. Tommy has too, but the little thing I was doing there only fit two people in. See the little thing I was doing there? Bit of fun.Listen to our new Bandcamp episode creating a list of games you might want to play if you maybe, hypothetically have an indefinite period of isolation to get through, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for free, or a hugely appreciated donation if you can.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our complete playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsIf you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access to Premium Episodes, the secret Patrons Facebook Group more!  See acast.com/privacy for p

  • Episode 230: Ori and the Will of the Wisps Review

    19/03/2020 Duration: 01h04min

Beautiful and 2-Dimensional, Adam listens to Tommy and Ben's review of Ori and the Will of the Wisps this week, along with more talk of the next Xbox and speculation about the PS5, an update on the Infinity Machine, and a bunch of other games and so on. Hope everyone's keeping happy out there, a little bit of video game discussion could only help. Quick little update further to the podcast for anyone reading this: since recording the PS5 specs have been released and like yeah, I guess they seem fine? I dunno man, can it play Fortnite? And the Infinity Machine has suffered a massive hard drive failure and lost a lot of progress. Luckily, I should have some time to put more work into the project. We will rebuild.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our complete playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or mo

    20/02/2020 Duration: 01h36min

You want to talk spiky blue balls? You've come to the right three men. This week Tommy, Ben and Adam go in-depth on what appears to be one of the biggest video game film adaptation of all time, Sonic The Hedgehog (2019). This podcast is full of spoilers, we basically recap the entire movie, so if you're keen on seeing it then get down to the cinema before giving this one a listen. Otherwise, enjoy this podcast that goes for longer than the full runtime of the movie it's reviewing.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our complete playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or more if you’d like). If you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access to Premium Episodes, the secret Patrons Facebook Group more!  See

    13/02/2020 Duration: 57min

This is a very special episode of Filthy Casuals. The boys are going to teach you about the birds and the bees. The bird, well that’s Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie. • Episode 224: Filthy Casuals Reforged

    06/02/2020 Duration: 01h16min

Welcome to Filthy Casuals: Reforged. Tommy now looks weird and worse than you expected, Ben doesn't legally own his own thoughts anymore, and Adam will come to your house and steal your old episodes of Filthy Casuals away from you. This week the boys have a look at the controversy surrounding Blizzard's bungled Warcraft III remaster, as well as other news of the week, and take a further look at the amazing Kentucky Route Zero, the average Journey to the Savage Planet and the you-take-a-guess Monster Energy Supercross 3. Plus, as always, more. That's my favourite regular feature of ours, really. • Episode 223: Kentucky Route Zero Impressions

    30/01/2020 Duration: 54min

As 2020 marches on, video games lie in wait far ahead, ready to pounce sometime in March, a little bit in April and May and then kind of not again until September. As for right now, we make do with what meagre provisions we have. The first hour or two of Kentucky Route Zero here. An inexplicable revisit to Return of the Obra Dinn there. Literally just reading out the names of bad sounding games from the Switch eShop. Precious little to tide us over. But still 2020 marches on. And so too does Filthy Casuals. Truly, we are heroes.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our complete playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or more if you’d like). If you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access to Premium Episodes, the s

  • Episode 221: 2020 Preview

    16/01/2020 Duration: 01h08min

"Two thousand and twenty" or "twenty twenty"? I feel like "twenty twenty" is the right one, but does that then mean that all the times we said "two thousand and five" or whatever were wrong? Should it have been "twenty oh five"? Because that sounds wrong to me. I guess it could be the case that we switch over the format partway through the century from "two thousand and nine" to "twenty ten", but I'm bothered by the lack of consistency there and I also remember there being an adjustment period where a lot of people were saying "two thousand and ten". I guess it could be that it's always been both? No, actually, I don't believe that. There has to be one correct way of saying each year or else what are we doing here, y'know? I actually think, for some reason, that it changed in 2012. "Twenty twelve". 2011 was "two thousand eleven", people skipped the "and" as a sort of transitional thing. Don't ask me why it was then or why it happened the way it but, it just did. So it goes: Two thousand, two thousand and one,

  • Episode 220: Games of the Decade - Part Two

    09/01/2020 Duration: 01h24min

It's time to wrap up our picks for the games and trends of the previous decade, before we dive headfirst into the 2020s. Will your favourites make the cut? Yes, they will. Because all of your video game opinions always line up with ours, there's never been a disagreeable statement made on this show by any of us. It's been fun recording these episodes, we sincerely hope that you have enjoyed them. And thanks for listening to the show at all. I guess in the end, the real games of the decade are the friends we made along the way.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our new playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or more if you’d like). If you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access to Premium Episodes, the secret P

  • Episode 219: Games of the Decade - Part One

    02/01/2020 Duration: 01h50min

Ten years. They said it was too long. Ten years worth of video games? A full decade of highs and lows, seachanges and treechanges, memories and moments. A full decade's worth of video games talk. They said it was too long. So we shortened it to around an hour and fifty minutes. Please enjoy Tommy, Ben and Adam being possibly the last piece of video game related media to get around to a 2010's recap as we go through our favourite games and significant trends of the just passed decade here in part one of our two part recap. • Episode 218: Game of the Year 2019

    26/12/2019 Duration: 02h01min

It's the most wonderful gaaaaaame of the yeeeeeear. Once again the finest minds in video game critiquing have the last word on which games of 2019 deserved attention. Tommy Ebert, Ben Siskel and Adam Rolling Stone turn their esteemed reviewer's gaze toward the best the year in interactive entertainment had to offer, and deliver the decade's closing thoughts on where video games went in the year that was. The book is closed on the year of our lord MMXIX, with the final ink penned as an illuminating afterword by the sharp examiners of ludonarrative prose at Filthy Casuals. It is so important to review games, and we are important at it. Video games are art and art is pointless unless a reviewer has told you what to think of it, and then ranked it on an end of year list. Oh HELL yeah this matters. Happy holidays everyone!Subscribe the YouTube channel for our new playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the

  • Episode 217: The Schick Hydrobot Memorial Game Awards 2019

    19/12/2019 Duration: 01h11min

We are gathered here today to commemorate and celebrate the life of the dearly departed Schick Hydrobot. His shine was too bright, his presence too beautiful, and his shave too close and clean for him to stay with us in this world for as long as he deserved. We honour him today by discussing the 2019 Game Awards, and for some reason Adam reviews Dead Space, which the rest of us at the service have found to be a little disrespectful but whatever. Farewell, old friend. • Episode 216: 2019 News Wind Down

    12/12/2019 Duration: 58min

2019 is coming to an end, and before we look next week at the year's final announcements at The Game Awards (and then the far more important Filthy Casuals Game of the Year), we're raking up all the muck that's fit to print for the last time this year. Tommy gets some new Nintendo indie games, Ben gets a Sony State of Play and a possible Bioshock game in the works, and Adam gets to play Mass Effect 2 again for some reason. 2019 is nearly in the books, and we've got you covered with a far less outdated information delivery medium than a dumb book: podcasting.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our new playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or more if you’d like). If you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access t

  • Episode 215: Disco Elysium Impressions

    05/12/2019 Duration: 01h10min

Engaging dialogue and unprecedented choice in how things unfold are two things you absolutely will not find on this week's episode of Filthy Casuals. Ben dives into Disco Elysium on his brand new gaming PC, Adam reviews the original Luigi's Mansion for the Gamecube and still finds it to be a more relevant and modern product than Pokemon Shield, and Tommy joins the boys in recounting the week's news. You choices are now either 1) Listen to the episode or 2) Do not. You don't have enough skill points for option 2 by the way, so please enjoy this week's episode.Subscribe the YouTube channel for our new playthrough of Until Dawn, highlights and fan videos at https://youtube.com/c/FilthyCasualsListen to our new premium Bandcamp episode all about the history of Rareware, available now at https://filthycasualspod.bandcamp.com for only $1 (or more if you’d like). If you’d like to support us on Patreon head to http://www.patreon.com/filthycasualspod for free weekly bonus episodes, early access

    28/11/2019 Duration: 01h03min

This week professional motocross rider Tommy Dassalo, bikini babe Ben Vernel and dirtbag who actually drinks energy drinks Adam Knox gather around to review the sickly and disgusting flavour of Monster Energy, along with follow up thoughts on Death Stranding and Pokemon, reactions to the Half-Life: Alyx trailer and more!
