Episodes

  • Episode 266: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

    26/11/2020 Duration: 01h17s

I put it to you that Filthy Casuals is the Breath of the Wild of podcasts. Firstly, it is about video games, and Breath of the Wild is a video game. You cannot fault my argument so far. Secondly, Breath of the Wild is open and free form, and I think we do that as well. Two for two. Thirdly, sometimes we seem to be running incredibly slowly and there are times when we appear to be Nintendo exclusive. Case closed. This week we talk about the new Breath of the Wild sort-of-prequel Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, as well as further thoughts on Demon's Souls, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, and plenty more. In summary, I think you'll all agree with me when I quote the immortal words of Link from the hit Legend of Zelda series: "hyaaaaa!" • Episode 265: PS5 Launch Games - Demon's Souls, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

    19/11/2020 Duration: 01h05min

The big boxes have been delivered and there is now a PS5 in each of Tommy, Ben and Adam's hands, which quite frankly has made it very difficult to play video games. After putting the PS5s down and picking up controllers, the boys have gone in on an array of launch games, including Demon's Souls, COD, Spider-Man, Astro's Playroom, more Assassin's Creed, and even more besides. It is incredible to think that video games have truly been released. What a time to be alive and interested in video games. Congratulations one and all.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 264: PS5 First Impressions, Assassin's Creed Valhalla

    12/11/2020 Duration: 01h04min

This week we’ve got a big burly bearded European warrior, a perky little robot, and also Tommy is on the show! Yes! Another classic Filthy misdirect! Speaking of things not going exactly how you might expect, neither Tommy nor Adam’s PS5s have arrived yet so Ben goes deep on the several hours he’s had with the PlayStation 5. Knox and Ben have played Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the boys talk Mass Effect Legendary Edition and more news relating to the art form of video games.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Tommy Dassalo's reviewing Pikmin 3 Deluxe? Leave it out! Ben Vernel reviews Ghostrunner? Cor blimey! Adam Knox then joins Ben in reviewing Watch Dogs Legion?? • Episode 262: Next-Gen Console Preview Reactions

    29/10/2020 Duration: 51min

We're just two incredibly long and arduous weeks away from new consoles coming out and quite frankly: I am excited. Big resolutions, beautiful graphics, buzzy and buttony controllers, boy oh boy it's a bevvy of bgood bconsoles. We've had a look at hands-on videos that are trickling onto the internet and we have thoughts to share. Would we have liked to get our hands on consoles ourselves? Yes. Have we? No. Are we furious an incensed? Yes, but that was already the case. It's a very exciting time in video games and we're very excited about at whether it takes a couple more weeks than we would have liked to actually get our hands on the things. Speaking of which, we also talk the Cyberpunk 2077 delay, and a whole bunch more. • Episode 261: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, VR Roundup

    22/10/2020 Duration: 01h14min

Mario Kart goes AR, all three of the Filthy boys have gone VR, it's hard to tell what's real and what's not these days. Did we actually record this, or are we now those AI generated voices you can do using computers? And like, even if we are AIs, like, what's the difference, man? If it's intelligence then like, what does it matter if it's artificial y'know? Aren't we, like, all artificial? In a way? Makes you think, in my opinion. We talk some Superhot, some Half-Life: Alyx, and a whole bunch more on this here episode of Filthy Casuals... or, like, DO we? You know what I mean? Crazy, dude. • Episode 260: Oculus Quest 2, I Am Dead

    15/10/2020 Duration: 01h01min

This week Tommy announces to the world that He Is Dead, Ben spends a lot of money on an expensive toy that you strap on to your body in order to have fun, and Adam spends too little time thinking about how to make discussions on I Am Dead and the new Oculus headset sound a bit funny in the episode description. We've also got a bunch more chat on the new consoles that are now less than a month away, which is officially Ridiculous, and more bits and pieces to go with. • Episode 259: Crash Bandicoot 4, Star Wars Squadrons

    08/10/2020 Duration: 59min

Woah! Crash is back and so are Tommy, Ben and Adam to talk about him. They're also here to talk about Star Wars Squadrons, Super Mario 35, Minecraft coming to Super Smash Brothers. In my opinion, this episode is CRATE! Hahaha hell yeah. Ok now read that back to me. Oh god ok no take out the crate bit.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 258: Paradise Killer, Genshin Impact

    01/10/2020 Duration: 01h03min

Tommy, Ben and Adam are going a little under the radar this week with reviews and chat about indie open-world detective game Paradise Killer, free-to-play Breath of the Wild """tribute""" Genshin Impact,Japanese visual novel/adventure/strategy game 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and a little underground game that definitely doesn't have millions of viewers on Twitch called Among Us. We're pretty cool like that actually, kind of finding out about things first? You probably wouldn't have heard of most of these. Oh, you play Call of Duty? That's cute. I'm more into mass market appeal action RPGs from one of the largest video game developers in the world's most populous country. Yeah, you wouldn't get it.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

    24/09/2020 Duration: 01h03min

The jumpy little plumber is back to show off some of his best ever plumbing jobs to a new generation, and the big black and white boxes are here to show off a new generation to some people who may need to take on some extra plumbing jobs to afford the huge amount of good video game stuff that is coming out very soon. If you are able to actually get your hands on any of it, of course. Tommy, Ben and Adam have gotten their hands on more than just Mario and Microsoft this week though, as they talk about the Big Bethesda Buyout, the Newest Nintendo Newsreel, the Coming Console Clash and Htommy Hand Hben Hlike Hplaying Hades.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 256: PlayStation 5 Price Reveal

    17/09/2020 Duration: 01h22min

Guide a dynasty through the centuries, ensuring the security and power of each new generation. That's literally the synopsis of Crusader Kings 3, Ben's new obsession, AND the mission statement of Sony and Microsoft as they prepare to release their new consoles. Wow, that really did line up quite well. Let's see what the next sentence in the synopsis is: Gather new lands and titles to cement your legacy. Ok well that could refer to games (titles) so that sort of works too. Anyway, we talk about the PS5 in depth, give brief reviews of Avengers and Crusader Kings, and mention our PAX Online panel from today as well. That'll do, punch it up if you like Adam. -Editor's note: Thanks, Ben.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 255: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 Review, Mario 35th Anniversary Direct

    10/09/2020 Duration: 01h12min

Tony Hawk is back, Mario is still around, the new Xboxes are nearly here, Tommy is nearby, Ben has recently been here and Adam is a little late but that's ok it's just how he is, he's doing his best. The description for this episode is also right here and hey, look at you! You're here too, reading it. What are the chances? I hope you enjoy this episode, it's a good one and the hard time I'm clearly having coming up with something interesting to write here in no way reflects upon the quality of the episode, which once again: is good.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 254: Moon: Remix RPG Adventure

    03/09/2020 Duration: 59min

Originally released in 1997, Episode 254 of Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox was exclusively available in Japanese. Several fan translation projects were started, but none made it past a few minutes of work, as the translators began to realise that the episode was no in fact in Japanese, but rather a broken form of mock Japanese that was considered edgy, but still generally okay when the episode released in 1997. Since then, fans have been calling for an English translation of the episode, citing that "they should never have been doing the Japanese voices in the first place, this is so wrong." and "what the actual fuck is this?" Now, more that 20 years later, we are proud to announce the release of Filthy Casuals Episode 254 in English. Please enjoy! • Episode 253: DC Fandome, A Short Hike

    27/08/2020 Duration: 01h04min

A crazed psychopath with a high, whining voice. A secretive and vengeful billionaire. An alien who blends in with the population of Earth and has lived through things which would destroy a normal man. That's right, I'm talking about Harley Quinn, Batman and Superman who are being discussed this week by Tommy, Ben and Adam. As we come even closer to complete and total loss of our minds, we find the time to have a very original whinge about the quality of some of DC's multimedia, a separate whinge about Destiny 2 and the ethics of cutting content, but then a very positive conversation about A Short Hike and Manifold Garden, for which Adam does not get involved. It's the classic Filthy Casuals formula applied to another week of gaming news and reviews. Please enjoy, please stay safe and sane. • Episode 251: Halo Infinite Delay, Fall Guys Review, Cruel Bands Career

    13/08/2020 Duration: 01h06min

Despite the fact that we announced this episode description many years ago, and recently heavily promoted that it would be released alongside Episode 251, our flagship episode, we have made the difficult decision to delay this episode description into 2021. We will use this extra time to make the episode description the best it can possibly be, and we appreciate our loyal fans giving us understanding in these difficult times. The episode will still be released as scheduled, but without a description to go with it, you may be wondering what the point is. We have thousands of descriptions already available, and this episode of Filthy Casuals is backwards compatible with all of them. Thank you all very much, and we will see you for the launch of Filthy Casuals Episode 251’s Episode Description in 2021! Stay safe. • Episode 250: Two Five Zero

    06/08/2020 Duration: 01h18min

In accordance with podcasting tradition, we celebrate our 250th episode with the customary "several lists of things that relate to the number two hundred and fifty". It is a ritual as old as podcasting itself (around fifteen years), and we are proud to follow in the footsteps of our forebears, the first podcast to have reached its 250th episode: Four Bears. It was a podcast where four bears growled about salmon. A true testament to the fact that literally any podcast can make it to 250 episodes. Here's to 250 more! And the 17 more after that, and then that's probably it. Our fifth birthday is coming up soon, so we'll probably do a little something for that, but for now thanks for listening everyone!Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Episode 249: Paper Mario: The Origami King, Carrion Review, Xbox Games Showcase

    30/07/2020 Duration: 01h10min

Completely two-dimensional, horrific and disgusting, and underwhelming in spite of a lot of promise. Am I describing the three things mentioned in the title of the episode there, or is it a funny description of the personalities of Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox? That's right, it's both! I've managed to perform a little bit of wordplay here in this episode description, and the world is all the richer for it. It's truly this sort of fun which can be had with the English language that makes the world's most popular dialect! I've not really looked into the reasons why so many people speak English, but I'm assuming that's the reason, anyway. Surely it's not a darker reason than that, right? Also some Nintendo leaks. 16/07/2020 Duration: 01h06min

This week the boys are joined in Melbourne lockdown by friend of the show, comedian and radio host Nick Cody! Cody joins the lads to chat about some of his favourite games and his recent descent into regular gaming life, and the boys touch on the Ubisoft Forward event, video game-related topics for talkback radio, and they even talk about little-known Nintendo game Breath of the Wild (briefly)! Knox gives his thoughts on puzzle game Superliminal, and the boys get excited for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Bit of a grab-bag with a good friend of the boys.
