Jordan plays Adonis Creed, while Sly Stallone himself steps back into the role that made him famous, and garnered his second Oscar nomination for playing the titular pugilist. Though the film artfully blends the hero worship of Rocky the fictional boxer with that of Rocky the real-life movie star, does Creed stand toe-to-toe with the original or does it pull its punches? In making the transition from TV sketch comedy to horror, Peele put a terrifying spin on the classic “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” set-up.
