Legends Podcast #407; Green Lantern (Canuary)
24/01/2019 Duration: 01h01minWe’re back in the bathroom of the cinematic calendar - the month of January - and this year we’re hitting the bargain bins to dig up some turds from the comic book movie genre. Grab some TP and recite the oath - this is Canuary! The DCEU got off to an abortive start when Green Lantern failed to light up the box office in 2011. Starring Ryan Reynolds as a test pilot turned emerald space cop, the movie crashed and burned in theaters and didn’t bring in enough green to fund a sequel, let alone spin off a cinematic universe. However, the movie wasn’t a complete loss: the original screenwriters went on to create their own DC Universe - on TV! Co-stars Angela Bassett and Taika Waititi went on to join the MCU, Temuera Morrison showed up in Aquaman, Mark Strong will get another shot at DC glory in Shazam!, and even CGI costumes are back in fashion. Everyone’s wearing them now! In fact, the only person who hasn’t made a comeback is Ryan Reynolds, right? That guy just isn’t cut out for playing the snarky bad boy lead

Legends Podcast #406; Watchmen (Canuary)
16/01/2019 Duration: 01h06minWe’re back in the bathroom of the cinematic calendar - the month of January - and this year we’re hitting the bargain bins to dig up some turds from the comic book movie genre. Grab some TP (and some Band Aids) because the streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood - this is Canuary! From “visionary director” Zack Snyder comes the long-awaited adaptation of the greatest graphic novel of all time: Watchmen. Released in 2009 and based on the 1987 work by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Snyder’s Watchmen instantly divided fans and critics. Was it too long, too dark, and too violent, or was it simply being faithful to the source material? Or did it stick to the letter of the source too slavishly, while failing to capture the spirit of the groundbreaking book, once called unfilmable by Moore, who refused to be named in the credits? Regardless, the end result was a moderate box office success. Now our hosts will seek to answer the age-old question: who watches Watchmen - if they can help it? Spoile

Legends Podcast #392; Beetlejuice (Legends of Halloween)
10/10/2018 Duration: 55minDirector Tim Burton is known for his gothic eccentricity and distinctive visual style. Nowhere is this more evident than in his second feature film, Beetlejuice. A tale of death and dismemberment that somehow plays as a family film, Beetlejuice helped propel Burton to Legendary status, as well as cementing the movie star status of Michael Keaton (who would don the cape and cowl for Burton the following year) and Winona Ryder (who would return to the decade that made her famous in Stranger Things.) But thirty years later, is Beetlejuice still the Ghost with the Most. Oh, crap I said his name three times! This is Legends of Halloween! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!
