Spring is a time when a lot of neat things come back to life, the snow melts, the ground becomes warmer and things start growing.  Mother's Day is just around the corner and we all think about our love to all the mother's in our lives, our own Mom, our friends, our sisters and cousins. Patriot-Made Audiocast producer and narrator Rita Rich's thoughts upon hearing that actor Leonard Nimoy passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015.  Rita says she'll miss hearing his voiceover work in animated shows and films, like the Simpsons. She'll always remember him from Mission in Possible too. And, for many who may not know, Mr. Nimoy was a US Army Veteran who served our country from 1953-1955. They learn how to take care of themselves financially, emotionally, and some have even moved out of the shelter. Their stories are part of a series of stories that the producers of Patriot-Made Audiocasts are planning on Brand Value Detroit.

  PETCO said Monday it has removed all remaining Chinese-made dog and cat treats from its website and stores nationwide because of concerns they have killed 1,000 dogs in the U.S. since 2007. The San Diego-based company and its rival PetSmart remove pet treats made in China after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said it had received about 4,800 complaints of pet illnesses which may be linked to jerky treats made there. PETCO is the first national pet retailer to pull the treats from its 1,300 stores.   John Sturm, PETCO’s vice president of pet nutrition and merchandising, said “For us to make this decision, we had to take down a $30-million business and rebuild it from scratch,” he said.
