Cats Talk Wednesday

Thanks so much for joWining us and listening to Episode 164. We'll of course have to take a moment and reflect on the passing of friend of the show and friend of everyone Joey Couch, at the way too young age of 49. He was gracious enough to join us here twice and we enjoyed every minute of both of his visits. We'll also look back at the Cats win over Virginia Tech and look ahead to UCLA this weekend down in New Orleans. At 7:00 we'll be joined by a legend among legends when it comes to UK basketball lore. At 7:00, James Streble of ESPN680 will stop by to talk University of Kentucky football recruiting, UK women's and men's hoops and volleyball and UK AD Mitch Barnhart being named SEC AD Committee Chair. We'll also talk NFL, NBA and the MLB Hot Stove. Make a list, check it twice and join in the fun!

Mark Stoops andKentucky is Back in Nashville to face the Northwestern Wildcats in the Music City Bowl. The basketball team is prepping for Monmouth. We have Courtney Love and Benny Snell doing big things. Steve Azul from the Big Blue Show will join us right off the bat to talk Eli Manning and more things NYC. We'll also look back at the Harvard game as well since TB was in the house.

Tonight's show is overflowing once again. We'll dive into the Kentucky Wildcats loss to the Louisville Cardinals and the aftereffects leading up to the bowl game which looks likely to be in Nashville, we'll see for sure on Sunday. We get to talk some basketball with Courier-Journal writer Fletcher Page as the Cats are paring down to playing only one game a week for the next little while. At 7:30 Jr, form jrsworldofsoul.com will join us to look back at the Soul Train Award as SWV finally got some love. We'll also talk about Eli Manning and the Tennessee Volunteers quest to finally find a football coach.

Another college football regular season has whizzed right on by us! It's Louisville Hate Week as the Kentucky Wildcats look to make it two wins in a row over Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals. It's also Senior Day and that means that it will be Stephen Johnson's final home game at Kroger Field.  Kentucky volleyball is on top of the polls and Kentucky men's and women's basketball teams both play/played today. IPFW is in Rupp and will tip it off against the men right as our show ends. We'll talk about all of that and much more tonight

We look back at the football win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, and ahead to Athens and the Georgia Bulldogs. We look at the basketball wins over Utah Valley, and Vermont and the setback versus the Kansas Jayhawks. The UCLA Bruins basketball team may come up in coversation as well as Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. At 6:15 Russell Baxte will join us @BaxFootballGuru to talk some #NFL and drop some knowledge. We'll also have to talk some NBA too as always.

We are back again this week for a special Friday episode of Cats Talk Wednesday! Another Harlan Countian joins us, this time it's Trampus King who happens to be one third of the band Stoned Age. He has a show this weekend and we wanted to have him on and promote it and today was the only day we could do it before our next regularly scheduled show next Wednesday. We'll talk about Trampus' days as a D-lineman for the Cumberland Redskins who were quarterbacked by our guy Freddie Maggard. We'll dig into Trampus music career and get the details of the benefit concert he has planned for Saturday evening in Cumberland

Lots of stuff in store this evening! We'll look back at Kentucky's last second loss to the Ole Miss Rebels and look to see if they can bounce back on the road againt the Vanderbilt Commodores. The basketball games count now as Mark Pope will bring his Utah Valley  Wolverines to Rupp Arena on Friday night and they'll be followed by the Vermont Catamounts on Sunday. Bruce Pearl, LaVar Ball and Chuck Person are all dealing with anxious moments. At 6:30 we'll be joined by Kayla VanHoose of bluegrassbball.com to talk some Kentucky high school hoops. At 7:30 the KY Sports Guys will stop by after they finish their show to talk some sports and randomness!

Tonight's show is jam packed! We'll look back at the win over Tennessee and look ahead to the Ole Miss Rebels with Christi Thomas of the UK Sports Network will join us at 6:15. High schoool basketball is here and Kayla Moore of bluegrassbball.com will stop by at 6:45 to let us know who we need to keep an eye on! At 7:30 we talk some music, some 90's RnB, with J.R. of jrsworldofsoul.com. SWV released their first album, It's About Time 25 years ago in 1992. They will be recognized at this Sunday's BET Soul Train Awards so we'll reminisce a lil bit about it!

Things got all kinds of ugly down in Starkville for the Kentucky Wildcats as they were routed by the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Was it just one bad game? Can the Cats prevent this from becoming a trend that leads to a disappointing second half of the season? The Tennessee Voulunteers visit Kroger Field this Saturday. They were dealing with a myriad of issues already and those were on the field. Today they got dealt a serious dose of drama off of it. We'll also talk about the Blue White Game and look ahead to the exhibition contest versus Thomas More on Friday. At 6:30 Joe Mussato of SEC Country will join us to talk about all of this. We'll also hit the NFL, NBA, World Series etc. Gonna be fun!

The big news of the day just happened as the University of Louisville has voted to fire Athletic Director Tom Jurich on the heels of dismissing head basketball coach Rick Pitino yesterday. Now we may not even be able to get to the fact that UNC got off scot free in their NCAA investigation.  As far as Kentucky goes, they will head to Starkville to face Mississippi State Saturday, Big Blue Madness was off the chain last weekend. The UK Volleyball squad took down #1 Florida Sunday. We'll talk to the Ky Taste Buds at 6:15 and also get to some NBA and MLB and NFL at some point!

Soccer doesn't come up a lot on this show but unfortunately it will have to this evening regarding the U.S. Men's National Team vs Trinidad & Tobago. Kentucky football gets to the bye week at 5-1. We'll look back at the Missouri game and then the trip to Starkville a week from Saturday. Kentucky basketball has unbelievably and quietly snuck up on all of us. Big Blue Madness is Friday evenig at Rupp Arena and as usual some big time recruits will once again get to take in the scene! We'll also talk some MLB playoffs and NFL. Tune in y'all!

Tonight we look back on the Kentucky Wildcats win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles. They are 4-1 and we'll take it. Up next is a date with the Missouri Tigers before the bye week. The Kentucky basketball team is gearing up for action and will have to do so without Jarred Vanderbilt who will be sidelined until January. We'll also have to peek at Louisville and see what the latest news is coming out of there. At 6:20 we'll be joined by former Reds, Mets, Rangers, Expos and Tigers infielder Doug Flynn to talk about his career and this years MLB playoffs. Join the fun, tune on in!

The FBI has stepped into the college basketball scene and lowered the boom. The Louisville Cardinals were the first to be belted by the blow. Athletic Director Tom Jurich and head men's basketball coach Rick Pitino have been placed on administrative leave and the Cards are now scrambling to find interim replacements. The Kentucky Wildcats football team suffered arguably their most brutal defeat of all time against the Florida Gators. We'll dive into the 28-27 loss and look ahead to Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan. Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade have new addressess. For the Kentucky Wildcats football team 1-0 has become 2-0 and a quarter of the way through the season the Cats find themselves at 3-0 and looking to snap a 30-game losing streak to the Florida Gators. We will dive into all of it with three awesome former Cats. At 6:15 former UK RB Nate Northington will join us and share his experiences of what it was like to be the first African American player ever to play at UK and in the SEC. At 7:00 former UK DL Joey Couch will stop by and give us his insights on the season thus far (on that D-line especially). If you remember Joey's first appearance on the show a few weeks ago you know it's going to be a treat. At 7:30 former UK and Bears DB Van Hiles will join us for the first time and bring all of his knowledge and insight that we see from on Twitter to our airwaves. Kentucky Wildcats improve to 2-0 yet they are still getting a side eye from some fans. Their first SEC test comes on the road this weekend down in Columbia as the face the South Carolina Gamecocks. Can they make it 4 straight over Will Muschamp, Jake Bentley and company? The NFL got underway and the Patriots took it on the chin. The Dallas Cowboys were impressive and still have room to grow, how so? There are some impressive streaks in MLB, both good and bad and Isaiah Briscoe has a new gig. We no longer have to wait to talk about games that will be played. Games have been played. The Kentucky Wildcats are 1-0 after handling business in their 24-17 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Now it's on to the home opener at Kroger Field to host the EKU Colonels. Mark Stoops described the win as a "thing of beauty". Why aren't some fans seeing it the same way? We'll talk Stepen Johnson, Benny Snell, the defense, Lynn Bowden's tweet and more. The summer slow down has come to an end. There was a soft opening last weekend but this is the last time we will be without football in earnest once things kick off this weekend. The Kentucky Wildcats look to build on last season and play up to increased expecatations by starting off with a win over Southern Miss. A full 60 minutes is what everyone will be looking for as UK looks to finish what they started in the first half in Lexingotn last season. Jason Munz of the Hattiesburg American will join us right off the bat to give us some insight on the Golden Eagles. We'll also talk some Alumni Game and Legends game, Kyrie again, Joe Haden and more
