  • Weight Changes, Breakfast Food, and The RestauRant Podcast: ODO 79

    25/10/2017 Duration: 01h37s

What do I have in common with my dog? Both of us have had major weight shifts lately. On a similar note, almost all of this week's news is about breakfast food. I've got garlic coffee, cops confused by donuts, a shortcut to chicken and waffles, and a little "green" something to help your appetite. All that food left me with only one choice for this week's "Recommended Listening" feature: The RestauRant Podcast. Full show notes and news links at http://bit.ly/ODO79 -RECOMMENDED LISTENING- The RestauRant Podcasthttp://restaurantpod.podbean.com/"Rants and raves about restaurants, food, and a celebration of all things culinary." -Promos This Week-Gareth's Random RamblingsPrerecorded LiveThe BoondoggleEpic Film Guys Hosted on Acast. • A Long Night: ODO 78

    18/10/2017 Duration: 53min

I'm more than a little sleepy this week. On my 3 am drive home from work, my wife informed me that our 2 year old is sick. This meant I was up with him the whole rest of the night, clear up to recording time this morning. The news brings several women who seem to be "weird adjacent," including the return of the McDonald's Szechuan Sauce. The "Jackass Of The Week" left me with more questions than answers, and at long last This week's "Recommended Listening" feature goes to the Brand X Podcast.Full show notes at: https://odddadout.blogspot.com/2017/10/a-long-night-odo-78.html Hosted on Acast. • Blinded By Bad Decisions: ODO 77

    11/10/2017 Duration: 01h04min

People make bad decisions all the time. The subjects of this week's esteemed news stories range from just being ignorant to getting literally blinded by poor decision making. On a completely unrelated note, it's pie time at home! Ok, it's because I decided to let my wife order 30 lbs of apples, so I guess it does relate to bad decision making. Going back to being blind, this week's "Recommended Listening" features at least one guy who is legally blind. It's Big D and Little R, from the Bro-Ron's Podcast. -WEIRD NEWS- -Five Taken To Hospital Over Hazmat Scare Caused By Pumpkin SpiceFive people were evacuated when a mysterious odor was found to be coming from a Baltimore High School locker. • Vamping About Podcasting: ODO 76

    05/10/2017 Duration: 01h11min

Since I didn't get to do a special episode for International Podcast Day on Sept 30th, I decided that I would spend this week just talking podcasting. In honor of his, long overdue, win in this year's Podcast Awards, this week's Recommended Listening feature goes to Dave Jackson and the School of Podcasting.Check out The School of Podcastinghttp://schoolofpodcasting.comOdd Dad Out Gearhttp://odddadout.threadless.comPromos:http://thestorybehindpodcast.com Hosted on Acast. • About Las Vegas

    04/10/2017 Duration: 09min

    - In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, I had to take some time and get some things off of my chest. Some people, likely many, may not like what I have to say at some points. That said, you may want to stick it out til the end for the lesson, or just read it below because, just like a pencil, the point is at the end. -This week we had the deadliest mass shooting in American history. At the time I’m writing this, 59 people are reported dead, and well over 500 are injured. I'm not gonna mention the scumbag murdering SOB by name because I strongly believe that we shouldn't make these people famous, and the news organizations have been plastering his name across every readable surface since they got it. This guy was a murderer. NO two ways about it.As the news came in today and I read more and more about what they know, and what they don't know, I started bouncing things around in my head. Never mind that the media always goes out there and shares the guy's name, job, girlfriend, former employers blah blah blah…

  • Cereals, Stoners, and Surprise Mother Effers: ODO 75

    27/09/2017 Duration: 57min

I'll admit it. I love cereal. I especially love those sugar cereals from my childhood. So when General Mills announced that they are going to give us back the original recipe Trix. I got really excited. How excited? Excited enough to devote an entire segment to breakfast cereal. This week's news brings a recall from Death Wish Coffee, a lawsuit from an armed robbery suspect, and a tie for J.A.W. with a couple a people too inebriated to function. As promised last week, this week's Recommended Listening feature goes to my fellow Surprise Mofo, Mike Jolitz. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • 5 A-Holes and An Irish Couch Potato: ODO 74

    20/09/2017 Duration: 53min

Doing a segment shuffle this week. I decide to lead with the news, including: a brave proctologist, an artist's prank that people are still falling for, and a guy who wants a Masters Degree without any of the work. Then I go on a bit of a rant about my taste in alcohol, or more accurately why is it that people give me crap over not really drinking and never doing drugs. Finally, I wrap things up with A-hole number 6 (or is it 7?) Chris the Mole Man from The Couch Potato Files. -WEIRD NEWS- -Two Florida Men Try To Steal A Power Pole After Hurricane IrmaTwo Florida men were arrested for "allegedly" trying to steal a power pole after Hurricane Irma. • Parent Teacher Conferences and Pizza Delivery: ODO 73

    13/09/2017 Duration: 54min

Part of my job as the daytime parent at home is going to school functions. Most annoying of these is parent/teacher conferences. Maybe I'm a little harsh on them, but I'll leave that for you to decide. In the News: Hurricane Irma hitting Florida brought out all sorts of crazies #BecauseFlorida. Plus, a few really dumb thieves, a jackass who wants to marry his computer, and a pizza guy who may be my new spirit animal on "The Pizza Podcast." -WEIRD NEWS- -Florida Residents Fight Against Hurricane IrmaSome people tried to redirect the storm using fansOthers just wanted to let out their frustrations by shooting into it.-ASL Interpreter Translates Hurricane Emergency Press Conference Wrong-Australian Man Steals Paintings From Gallery, Then Tries To Sell Them To Their Owner-Two Men Try To Rob Bar Full of Cops -JACKASS OF THE WEEK- Man Sues Multiple States Over Gay Rights, So He Can Marry His Computer -RECOMMENDED LISTENING-Pizza Podcasthttp://pizzapodcast.libsyn.com/"This is a podcast based on all the crazy s**t th

  • Halloween Decor and Random Ramblings: ODO 72

    05/09/2017 Duration: 48min

Hope you had a happy Labor Day, or just a good weekend in general. Now that we have reached the pre-holiday season it's time to start thinking about holiday decorations, starting with Halloween. Somehow my wife managed to sneak her way into buying a bunch of new spooky things to decorate our house. • Speaking of Hurricane Harvey

    29/08/2017 Duration: 55min

For those new to the show, Reanna was born and raised in South Texas, in the exact area recently ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. That being said, seeing the destruction in areas that used to be our home has been quite difficult. Obviously we still have family and friends that live in the area and have had to endure all the pain brought on by the storm. -Ways to Help Harvey Victims-Salvation Armyhttps://give.salvationarmyusa.org/site/Donation2?df_id=27651&mfc_pref=T&27651.donation=form1Go Fund Me Hurricane Reliefhttps://www.gofundme.com/hurricaneharveyRockport Fulton Chamber of Commerce Reliefhttps://www.gofundme.com/Hurricane-Harvey-Fund-for-Rockport-FultonGlobal Giving Harvey Relief Fundhttps://www.globalgiving.org/projects/hurricane-harvey-relief-fund/Texas Diaper Bankhttp://www.texasdiaperbank.org/Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Grouphttp://www.coastalbendcan.org/CBDRGHouston Food Bankhttp://www.houstonfoodbank.org/Corpus Christi Food Bankhttp://www.foodbankcc.com/Galveston County Food Bankhttp://www.g

  • C U Next Tuesday: ODO 71

    22/08/2017 Duration: 39min

This week I got both a good laugh and a painful lesson from listening to She Podcasts. Warning, don't teach your Mexican co-worker what  "See You Next Tuesday" means. Spoilers: it doesn't end well. I've also got eclipse news, dead bodies in strange places, a workplace affair gone horribly wrong, and by far the worst way to find out your spouse is cheating. All that, and I revisit a previous feature for it's spinoff podcast, Movie Maintenance Presents. -WEIRD NEWS- -Christian Radio Host Says Eclipse Is A Sign Of The Work Of SatanBecause the Bible describes the Sun and Moon as "Signs" this guy thinks that the Moon covering up the Sun is a sign that God is being covered up by the works of Satan, or something like that. -Idiot Scientist Tries to Destroy ‘Finding Nemo’ by Applying Science to a CartoonFrench scientists released research showing how male clown-fish, like Marlin in "Finding Nemo," will change from male to female if their mate dies. • Weird is World Wide: ODO 70

    16/08/2017 Duration: 52min

This week I've had some great interactions with other podcasters, surprisingly in my area. One little twitter follow from a podcaster in my town lead to a rabbit hole of podcast discovery from surprisingly big names in my area. The news this week is coming from all around the world, from Australia to Shanghai. The featured podcast this week is a little self serving since it's my other show, "Mom and Dad Cuss." Why recommend my own show? Because it's funny and my wife is on it too.  -WEIRD NEWS- Shanghai Man Uses Ambulance As Ride Share VehicleA logistics driver decided that he would use the ambulance he was delivering to make some extra cash as a ride-share vehicle along the way. • School Stress and Stupidity w/ ReAnna: ODO 69

    08/08/2017 Duration: 01h10min

After a month long break caused by our family vacation, a dead computer, and a newly mobile toddler beating down the studio door, I'm back, and my wife, ReAnna, decided to join me and talk about some of the stuff that we dealt with at the beginning of the summer. We also shared some crazy Texas news stories from our vacation, a very devoted doctor, and a whole mess of people doing stupid stuff. In "Recommended Listening" I've got the slightly deceptively named "Nerds With Words." -WEIRD NEWS- -Technician Gets Trapped Inside ATM While Repairing LockCorpus Christi police said a contractor, got stuck in an ATM room at a local Bank of America while attempting to change the lock on the machine.-Texas Man Shoots Armadillo, Bullet Hits His FaceA Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face.-Coffee Recalled For Containing Ingredient In ViagraBestherbs Coffee LLC is voluntarily recalling a number of its coffee after it was discovered one of its ingred

    05/07/2017 Duration: 45min

Between packing up for our regular family trek back to Texas and the 4th of July holiday, I'm a little behind this week. Somehow I managed to put an American spin on all the news stories. And boy did it take a spin to get some of them to fit that description. • This Heat Is Frying Brain Cells: ODO 67

    27/06/2017 Duration: 01h45s

Summer 2017 has started with a BANG! There's been record heat waves across the US and Europe. The heat in Phoenix actually left planes grounded at the airport. It looks like the heat may be frying some people's brain cells a bit as dumb crime seems to be ticking up. From shoplifters at Wal-Mart to hackers at the CIA, nobody is using their brains much right now. This week's feature goes to a another weird news show I've been turned on to, "The Crazy Town Podcast." -B.S. FROM THE NEWS- Record Heat Wave For PhoenixThis passed week has had at least 4 straight days with temperatures between 115 and 120 degrees. 20/06/2017 Duration: 59min

Hope you had a good Father's Day. This week's news brings on a few past stories including an ironic twist for a bank robber.
