Remembering Dr. Joseph J. McGowan
02/03/2017 Duration: 05minDr. Joseph J. McGowan was Bellarmine University's third president, in the history of the school. He was praised and lauded for his keen instinct to identify projects that not only beautified the campus, but solidified and encouraged deep and meaningful relations with alumni and the larger community of Louisville. Dr. McGowan died in early 2016, as construction continued on one of his "pet" projects, Centro (three story, $25m building). The building, which is now finished and is situated up the road from the arch or gateway to the university campus, which was another one of the former president's projects. Both are shining examples of the forward and progressive thinking of Dr. McGowan who said, "if I weren't a university president, I probably would have been a singer or an architect".
