Panthers came in waves against the Senators. Quite The Appetizer Before the Four Nations
10/02/2025 Duration: 30minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, in the final game before the Four Nations break. Panthers came even waves and it did not stop even when they gave up an early goal to Brady Tkachuk on the power play. Matthew Tkachuk answered with one of his own in the second period, and the Panthers poured it on from there, with 20 shots in the period. It allowed the Panthers to get a smooth third period that had very few whistles. Panthers capped it off with an empty netter while short handed (now 12 SHG's on the season), and they go into the break at 34-20-3 and three points ahead of the Leafs for the Atlantic Division. We also discuss what the players had to say about transition from playing on their club teams vs. their national teams and the opportunities the guys are getting after the NHL went through nine years of not having a best-on-best tournament. We also chat about how the lineups are looki

07/02/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two discuss the Panthers' 3-2 win over the Blues as Matthew Tkachuk scored with 11.8 seconds lefts after the Panthers didn't allow a shot for over 15 minutes in the third period. The Panthers had the energy after Sam Bennett and Jake Neighbours dropped the gloves right off the opening draw after Bennett's shot to the head back in December. The Cats' second line set the tone in the first period with getting a goal off the forecheck, with Mackie Samoskevich scoring after missing the last three games with an illness. He later exited the game after his first shift in the second period, and did not return. The Panthers had an early stretch in the game where they had 10 consecutive shots after giving up the first goal. St. Louis slowed the Panthers down in the second period and the first 10 minutes of the third where the Cats had a hard time gai

Capitals depth made the Panthers pay in another tightly game, win streak over at three
05/02/2025 Duration: 33minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 6-3 loss to the Washington Capitals, where both teams traded goals in the first two periods, but the Panthers kept playing to their identity despite never having a lead on the evening. Including allowing three shots the first 13 minutes of the second period, which could have been a point where the Cats' could have turned the game around. The Caps scored twice in the first six minutes of the third period, but after a bump from Nic Dowd on Sergei Bobrovsky (which wasn't the first time he crashed into Florida's goaltender), the Cats scored with the open ice on 4-on-4 to bring it to a one-goal deficit thanks to Matthew Tkachuk. Chucky now has a four-game goal streak. Washington scored two empty netters to seal the victory, including Alexander Ovechkin's 878th goal, which now puts him to 17 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's goal record. Panthers set the tone with winning draws on the

04/02/2025 Duration: 32minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the announcement from the NHL last week on what the salary cap will end up being in 2025-26, and where it could end up beyond that. Where how do the numbers work the Cats now that we know an official number? Is there a better possibility of keeping both Ekblad and Bennett? Elliotte Friedman of 32 Thoughts spoke about teams being "weary" of the Panthers and that they could pull something out of their hat at the deadline. Is it possible this time around for the Panthers to get a right handed shot defenseman with their lack of resources? Lastly, the Panthers paid a visit to The White House on Monday right before their matchup against the Capitals as Alexander Ovechkin continues his chase of trying to break Wayne Gretzky's goal record, which he is 18 goals away at the current moment. Last time the two faced, it was a tight game until Washington scored two empty netters to seal the game where the Spencer Kni

03/02/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in David Dwork(@DavidDwork) to the show to discuss the weekend sweep against the Chicago Blackhawks and the New York Islanders right before hitting the road for a quick two-game road trip. The stars came to play, and the key for the Panthers was first period dominance, with the exception of the first seven seconds of their game against Chicago. Jonah Gadjovich stayed ready and scored to tie the game in the first game, Dmitry Kulikov received the silver stick in honor of playing 1000 games, and Carter Verhaeghe broke out with four goals on 12 shots over the weekend, including his third hat trick as a member of the Panthers. Sam Reinhart became the first Panthers to hit 30 goals in four straight seasons, and tied Pavel Bure with 152 goals in a Cats sweater. Panthers got a bit of a scare in the second period against the Islanders where they allowed three unanswered goals, which was the second time it happened against

Panthers prevail with a shutout win at home. Barkov Named Finnish Team Captain!
30/01/2025 Duration: 30minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to recap the Panthers' 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings from Sunrise on Star Wars night. It was a dominant effort by the Panthers who set the tone with 20 shots in the first period, and getting clear lanes to the net as LA had a hard time preventing them from getting to the blue paint. The second line was buzzing on the evening where Mackie Samoskevich, Sam Bennett, and Matthew Tkachuk combined for 16 shots, resulting in two goals. Neither team committed a penalty in the second period nor got on the score sheet, so it was another Panthers 1-0 lead heading into the third period against the Kings. The Cats converted five seconds into a 5-on-3 (only having 9 seconds of it), which allowed them to still control play the rest of the way, and play shutdown hockey. Barkov scored his first goal of 2025 on the 2-man advantage (first since 12/30 against NYR). Sergei Bobrovsky got his first career shutout against the Kings,

Panthers Lose 4-1 to Vegas to Finish West Coast Schedule. Are the Cats no Longer the East Favorites?
27/01/2025 Duration: 35minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Fortress. The Cats on the second end of their back-to-back controlled play for the start and end of the first period, and carried it over to the second. However, VGK extended their lead to two after their second shot on goal of the period that made it hard to come back from. After some lines changes in the second period, the Panthers were able to cut it to one in the opening minutes of the third period to still make a game out of it. Vegas scored just past the midway points of the third period, and would remain in control for the remainder of the contest. Spencer Knight kept the Cats in it after two consecutive breakaway stops, but an untimely penalty with five minutes left in the frame put the game out of reach. We give our three duds, and the moment where we knew the game was lost. The Cats will now only play two games outside of the easte

The win by the Cats now has them at eight wins in a row at the Shark Tank, dating back to 2015. Outside of a 32 second lapse where the Sharks went from trailing by one to up one, the Panthers were well in control of the game, and were able to put it away with a four-goal second period. With the Panthers being on the front end of a back-to-back, it allowed them to roll the four lines and get the bodies as fresh as they can for their matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. Panthers Out of Gas Late in LA, Lose in regulation 2-1
23/01/2025 Duration: 34minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Eddie Garcia(@eddieonfox) of Locked On LA Kings to break down the Panthers 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were in control in the first period where the Panthers got into early penalty trouble, but once again, staying out of the box the rest of the game gave them an opportunity to play a tight hockey game. The Panthers prevented the Kings from getting to the dirty area in the first 40 minutes. Although the Panthers broke their four-game drought of not scoring on the power play, it was the only scoring that they got on the night against the NHL's best defensive team. LA controlled the play having 13 straight shots on goal, which ended up in two goals to completely flip the game and give the Panthers their fifth straight loss in Los Angeles. The two give their standouts on Wednesday night, the moment where they knew the game was decided, and also give the latest news of a defenseman from each team cl

22/01/2025 Duration: 39minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two recap the Panthers' 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, where both teams combined for five goals in the first period. After the Panthers failed to extend their lead in the second period with three power play chances (including 43 seconds up 5-on-3), the Cats scored 19 seconds into the third period and were able to play their shutdown style the rest of the way. The top line set the tone for the team, resulting in the first goal, and two Panthers broke out of their respective goals droughts in Carter Verhaeghe (six games) and Sam Bennett (20 games). 11 of the 18 skaters got a point on the night, and each of the four lines got on the board. Spencer Knight and Depth Pick the Panthers Up after Reinhart's Game-Misconduct, Shutout Anaheim 3-0
20/01/2025 Duration: 41minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Doug Stolhand the show to recap the 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The Panthers had to pick it up after Sam Reinhart received a 5-minute major and a game misconduct after his knee-on-knee hit on Isac Lundestrom, with the home-and-home Reinhart will have to answer the call when the teams meet again on Tuesday. Panthers shut it down in the third period where eliminating the Ducks speed in the neutral zone resulted in an insurance goal by Anton Lundell. Jesper Boqvist struck again as he now has a career high in goals with 11. The two discuss the Ducks build and their mix of veterans with young blue liners, including former Panther Radko Gudas and how much his leadership has impacted them. They also give their thoughts on Frank Vatrano's new deal with the Ducks, and how that could help them going forward. Red Wings Special Teams Stayed Hot in SFL As The Panthers Up-And-Down start to 2025 Continues
17/01/2025 Duration: 36minOn today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Nich Fairbanks(@prudentia0) for another edition of Fairbanks Friday. The two break down the Panthers' 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, which was the first regulation win for them over Florida in almost Four years. It was a special teams demolition for the Detroit Red Wings as they were able to convert on of their four chances, which all happened just after the midway point of the second period. Although the Cats tied it twice quickly and had six more minutes of offensive zone time, the untimely penalties were too much to overcome. Sergei Bobrovsky got chased for the second time this season, but now it's three games in a row of giving up four goals. Bobrovsky previously went seven straight with giving up less than four. At this point it's a trend with the goal droughts getting to double digit games. The Penalty kill might have over 10 short handed goals, but have they started to cheat for offense? The guys giv
