On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, in the final game before the Four Nations break. Panthers came even waves and it did not stop even when they gave up an early goal to Brady Tkachuk on the power play. Matthew Tkachuk answered with one of his own in the second period, and the Panthers poured it on from there, with 20 shots in the period. It allowed the Panthers to get a smooth third period that had very few whistles. Panthers capped it off with an empty netter while short handed (now 12 SHG's on the season), and they go into the break at 34-20-3 and three points ahead of the Leafs for the Atlantic Division. The two discuss the Panthers' 3-2 win over the Blues as Matthew Tkachuk scored with 11.8 seconds lefts after the Panthers didn't allow a shot for over 15 minutes in the third period. The Panthers had the energy after Sam Bennett and Jake Neighbours dropped the gloves right off the opening draw after Bennett's shot to the head back in December. The Cats' second line set the tone in the first period with getting a goal off the forecheck, with Mackie Samoskevich scoring after missing the last three games with an illness. He later exited the game after his first shift in the second period, and did not return. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to recap the Panthers' 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings from Sunrise on Star Wars night. It was a dominant effort by the Panthers who set the tone with 20 shots in the first period, and getting clear lanes to the net as LA had a hard time preventing them from getting to the blue paint. The second line was buzzing on the evening where Mackie Samoskevich, Sam Bennett, and Matthew Tkachuk combined for 16 shots, resulting in two goals. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Fortress. The Cats on the second end of their back-to-back controlled play for the start and end of the first period, and carried it over to the second. However, VGK extended their lead to two after their second shot on goal of the period that made it hard to come back from. After some lines changes in the second period, the Panthers were able to cut it to one in the opening minutes of the third period to still make a game out of it. Vegas scored just past the midway points of the third period, and would remain in control for the remainder of the contest. Spencer Knight kept the Cats in it after two consecutive breakaway stops, but an untimely penalty with five minutes left in the frame put the game out of reach. The Kings were in control in the first period where the Panthers got into early penalty trouble, but once again, staying out of the box the rest of the game gave them an opportunity to play a tight hockey game. It was a special teams demolition for the Detroit Red Wings as they were able to convert on of their four chances, which all happened just after the midway point of the second period.
