Florida gave up the first goal just as the penalty kill came to an end toward the finish of the opening frame. The first period saw neither team fully take control as both teams traded their fair share of chances. Panthers would cash in midway through the second on the power play, thanks to Sam Reinhart. The real conversation on that play was Aleksander Barkov's puck handling ability as he gained the zone. After juggling the puck in mid air while fighting off a check, he was able to distribute the puck to Reinhart to give him his 43rd goal of the season, now third most in a season by a Florida Panther.
