Oh, that God would open our eyes to see the wonder of His majesty, to fully comprehend His greatness. In our moments of crisis, it is so easy to blame somebody else, to make others responsible for our misfortune - this is what the disciples tried to do in John 9, they asked, Who sinned that this man was born blind? Jesus was very simple in His response, the blindness was not caused by the man nor his parents - then Jesus went on to say, "this man has a problem and I want to show you the power of God to solve that problem."  'The Song of the Lamb' used by kind permission of www.vinesong.com

To whom today has God revealed His love? Who are the people to whom God has revealed His power? Is it only in America or England? God forbid! Throughout the Bible God worked many miracles, and I've got good news for you, miracles did not stop 2000 years ago, the Jesus of the Bible is alive with all power and authority, and we still see miracles when we pray in His Name. 'When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to Myself' (John 12.32). Jesus was saying through death, not through life, He will draw more people to Himself than He could by living. If Jesus was to die, it was not because of His wrong doing; not because of old age, as He was only 33 when He died; not because of sickness, as He had no sickness; He was to die for a purpose: His death was to have a significance which would affect the whole world. Even if we don't see it here on earth, the Bible is very clear, there is a day of judgment; death is not the end, it does not mean oblivion, because after death comes judgment. We need to be prepared for this. Jesus said, "Now is the judgment of the world; now the ruler of the world will be cast out." 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.' All of us are important to Jesus; you are valuable in His sight. Jesus doesn't look upon your clothes, He doesn't look to see if you have money or prestige; your value to God is not based upon what you have acculated in life; you are valuable to Him because you are His child. There are many times in our lives when we need to cry out, "help!" And when you do, Jesus is there listening to your cry. The Bible says Jesus hears every cry from your heart: when you are in pain, when you are in difficulty, if you will cry out, "Jesus help me", He will answer you; even if it is a silent cry from your heart, God hears.  'It is well with my soul' used by kind permission of www.vinesong.com

In your time of need, call upon the Name of Jesus, He will answer you. The Psalmist said, 'I sought the Lord and He answered me: those who look to Him are radiant.' 'You answered me' used by kind permission of www.vinesong.com

We all want to receive God's blessing in our lives. So often we read in the Gospels how Jesus would visit people's homes; He would fellowship with them, taking time to understand the needs of the people around Him. It is the same in our lives today. Seven times King and Parliament called the United Kingdom to prayer during WWII. Seven times the whole nation turned out and filled the churches, including those who had not been to church in years and those who had never been. Are you so full of pain and sickness that you are deaf to the voice of Jesus; are you unable to hear when He is talking to you. Jesus loves you - He wants to heal you, but first He wants to forgive you and set you free from the hurts of the past. I want you to believe, to trust Jesus. How difficult it is to really believe; to take Jesus at His Word often requires a faith beyond our abililty to believe. I believe in prayer and in a God of miracles, but when I was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2002, I was faced with a challenge: do I really believe God or not? The disciples thought they knew who Jesus was: they had already worked with Him for some time and witnessed some of the most amazing miracles; they were the closest friends Jesus had. All of us have been damaged, injured, by the sorrow in our lives; the pain, the fears, the sin in our lives which keep us from God, all these things mark us, they leave an imprint. But Jesus wants to come alongside you, to walk with you and ease your heartache. You are never lost to Jesus; we might not be able to see Him because of the darkness surrounding us, but He knows exactly where we are. For so long, it was like there was a distance, as if we were separated. But now Jesus is so close, so near, you can talk to Him at any time. For so many people Jesus is some distant person; God Himself is distant and unapproachable. If I were to ask you, 'Where is God', some would say, 'To find God I would have to go to church', some would respond, 'God, He's up there'. But where is 'there'? I've got good news for you today, Jesus is called 'Emmanuel, God with us' - wherever you find yourself in life, God is there with you. 'Rest' used by kind permission of www.vinesong.com

I can tell you how close Jesus is to you: just breathe in, Jesus is as close as the air that fills your lungs. One prayer and He is always there with you. How can we touch Him? It is not a physical touch. You touch Him when you call His Name, when you talk to Him. Reach out to Him today. One word from Jesus can calm the storm, heal your broken heart. The hardest thing in your life and mine, when you are in the midst of a crisis, is to see Jesus. Because of the darkness surrounding you, God can seem distant, it prevents you from seeing Him.
