That wasn't nearly as fun as had been hoped. A combination of immaturity and injuries doomed Alabama against Georgia. All credit to UGA for getting it done in crunch time. Alabama did what Alabama does on Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs. After being an underdog for the first time in two presidents, the Tide emphatically took down Georgia to win another SEC Championship. The Tide is #1 in the College Football Playoff, and with how the bracket has set up, has a great chance to secure another national title. We do have some crow to eat as all three of us took Georgia. "Stressful" is the word of the season for this Crimson Tide football team. Another close call lead to one of the more insane endings that will ever be seen in the Iron Bowl. It took four overtimes, and one of the most unbelievable 97 yard drives to get it done, but the Tide move on to the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs. There haven't been much taller hills for Nick Saban's Tide to crawl than the Bulldogs, and all of us see a close, four-quarter fight. Alabama struggled to put away a solid Arkansas Razorbacks squad this past Saturday, but they did manage a 42-35 win and earned a shot at the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. The Tigers are in a tailspin after blowing a huge lead against Mississippi State and then losing to South Carolina. Will they give Bama a game? That was over quickly. Alabama dispatched a bad New Mexico St. Aggies team this past weekend. A bunch of players saw the field, a couple of injuries raised some eyebrows, and the Crimson Tide rolled. Now the final sprint of the season is upon us with the Arkansas Razorbacks coming to town. A win and Alabama clinches a brawl with the Georgia Bulldogs. Arkasas has some disadvantages coming into the matchup with the Tide, not the least of which being that they play a similar brand of football to the Ole Miss Rebels. Well. That wasn't fun. The Alabama Crimson Tide went on the road and were upset in a stunning turn of events down in College Station. The film should be ritually burned by the entire team because everyone could have played better, even the players who had the best games against the Aggies. The lack of proper preparation, and doing the little things right in the week leading up the game, finally came together with a listless effort to get Bama upset. Alabama is now at a crossroads. The team either circles the wagons, starts doing the little things correctly and reaches what is still an absurdly high ceiling for a college football team, or everything fractures and the Aggie game was a preview of things to come. The defenas continues to progress, and the offense gets better every week. The biggest thing that could derail the Crimson Tide train is injuries. The loss of Jase McClellan will hurt, and the running back room is suddenly thin ahead of a road trip to College Station to play Texas A&M. After a tough game against Florida, a sugary cupcake in the form of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles was just what the doctor ordered.
