Soybean harvest has started in parts of southern Wisconsin; however, northern Wisconsin is still waiting to begin in many areas. William Wynn, Pioneer field agronomist, adds that most corn is pretty wet still with moisture rates of 26% to 30%. Wynn encourages you to prioritize fields with poor stalks in this Pioneer Agronomy Minute. 

Soybean harvest in southeast Minnesota is exceeding expectations. Josh Shofner, Pioneer field agronomist, estimates that one-third of soybeans in his area has been harvested. He encourages growers to scout diligently to prioritize getting crops out in time. 

Mike Gronski, Pioneer field agronomist from Wisconsin, said that the quality of silage is better than expected. However, a frost is likely coming in north-central Wisconsin. He reminded growers that the corn will shed moisture quickly after a frost, and to harvest as soon as it makes sense. 

Black tar spot, northern leaf blight and gray leaf spot are appearing in Michigan fields this harvest season. Karen Zuver, Pioneer field agronomist, recommends that you scout your fields for these diseases and take a close look at the stalks. This information from the field can help you make decisions about what to harvest first and what hybrids to consider for next season.
