    Hold on to your flat whites and your easter eggs - climate change could be coming for your favourite foods. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, worldwide yields of coffee and cocoa beans could decrease by up to a third by 2050.   • Opus Dei coerced girls into years of service: report

    The secretive Catholic organisation Opus Dei is under scrutiny, after the Financial Times reported that girls had been coerced into decades of gruelling service in the order. Women from Britain and Ireland told the newspaper they were groomed to sign up as so-called assistant numeraries, which in reality meant working as domestic servants without pay or holidays. The journalist who wrote the story is Antonia Cundy who says that the women were recruited when they started training at hospitality schools as 15- and 16-year-olds. Cundy spoke to Corin Dann.

    The governor of the Reserve Bank says global interest rates are on the cusp of being lowered by central banks, but consumer and business inflation expectations need to drop further for it to happen. Adrian Orr says New Zealand is like other economies, waiting for the right time to ensure inflation is definitely back under control while not holding rates too high for too long. Orr told business editor Gyles Beckford the inflation tide is turning and the slowing economy is in line with its expectations.

    Sir Bryan Williams - the grandfather of Pacific rugby in NZ - will be formally inducted into the inaugural Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame Thursday night. The ceremony at Eden Park will name and celebrate Sir Bryan and six other legendary Pasifika rugby players including Peter Fatialofa, and Jonah Lomu. Sir Bryan says it's a great initiative to recognise Pasifika players and their significant contributions over the last 40 or 50 years. Sir Bryan spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.

The vandalism comes just a few days after a similar rainbow crossing in Gisborne was painted white by Destiny Church in protest of a planned drag event at the city's library.     Investigative journalist Nicky Hager says a decade old leaked US intelligence document points to the identity of the foreign intelligence equipment hosted by the GSCB without the knowledge of politicians. Last week, the Inspector General of Intelligence and Security revealed a foreign agency has been running a spy operation in New Zealand for almost a decade, without ministers knowing. Nicky Hager, who was a member of the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security's reference group, has used information leaked by Edward Snowden to identify the mystery intelligence equipment. In a commentary piece published on the RNZ website Friday morning Hagar says the papers point to the use of a system called APPARITION which was to be installed at the base in June 2012, the same date as the foreign intelligence equipment discussed in the Inspector-General's report Nicky Hager says APPARITION collects location data for capture-kill operations. Other Snowden documents show that APPARITION was run by the United States'

  • NZ firms offered money to sell job 'partnerships'
