For decades it was believed that a baby comes to us as a “bank slate”, ready for us to mold. There was also the belief that children adopted at a young age could be molded by their adoptive parents. We now know that Nature/genetics plays a strong role in the characteristics of every child and believing that a parent has 100% influence is a disappointment.
