Your speaking pace is an important key component of engaged, entertaining communication. Mastering your speaking pace and knowing when to slow down versus speed up is important in ultimately communicating your message clearly. I've said it before but it's not what you say, but how you say it that is important.  Practicing this skill is helpful to communicate certain ideas and knowing which ideas are best delivered slowly or fast is helpful to your listener.
