Colene Bush, 20, was a student at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she was attending on a presidential scholarship. She was athletic, playing intramural sports, and studied hard with the goal of becoming a doctor. She had great friends, and by all accounts, was having an idyllic college experience.Julie Jackson, 19, was also a student at the University of New Mexico, and one of Colene’s best friends. Julie excelled in academics, was a hard worker, and was described by Colene as one of the nicest, kindest, understanding people she’s ever known. Julie was also intending on pursuing a career in medicine.
