Abu Sufyaan Ibn Harb رضي الله عنه (S25) Many attempts were made to breach the trench but the disbelievers were unsuccessful. The siege lasted ~a month. The Messenger ﷺ appointed Hudayfah Ibn al-Yamaan رضي الله عنهم to gather intel from the opposition. Hudayfah رضي الله عنه said they never experienced a night like the battle of the trench. The wind was so harsh and it sounded like thunder. The darkness was so intense they couldn’t even see their fingers. Hudayfah رضي الله عنه snuck into the enemy base and heard Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه saying that they should leave as the conditions are too tough. Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه thought something didn’t feel right, and told his men to ask who the person next to them was. Again we see the military genius of Abu Sufyaan رضي الله عنه.
