Muazh Ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه (S52) The Plague of Amwaas, 18 A.H: around 30,000 Muslims were martyred by this plague, including many Companions رضي الله عنهم. It occurred around half way through Umar’s رضي الله عنه Khilafat. The Messenger ﷺ tells Muazh رضي الله عنه about the plague and that he will migrate to Shaam… When Muazh رضي الله عنه was affected by the plague, he said it was more beloved to him than being given red camels. He made dua his entire family be given a share of the plague - they all were martyred by it. Plagues used to be a punishment, but for this Ummah it is a mercy. It grants one martyrdom, however you must be patient, not flee, expect reward and know it is the degree of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى. Muazh رضي الله عنه: “The plague is martyrdom. It is a mercy. It is a dua of The Messenger ﷺ”.
