Episode #052: Arizona's Meteor Crater and Monument Valley Erosion
08/12/2020 Duration: 01h46minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex We head back to Meteor Crater and dig into the definitive 1997 paper by David Kring on the effects of the blast wave from the central Arizona impact 50,000 years ago. Much was learned from the detonations of nuclear weapons during the 1950’s, with numerous craters blasted out in the Yucca Flats of Nevada. The estimates for a similar event every 1600 years are pondered, and we figure that those periods are considered to be even shorter now. Then we revisit a few other spots from our “Southwest Experience” in October, including a stop to see the distinct Black Mat at Murray Springs, petroglyphs at Chevelon Canyon, and Monument Valley – where the “Great Denudation” begs for questions about the erosional processes that shaped those landscapes, and the history of seismicity that should’ve toppled the fragile sandstone spires long ago. Unless of course, that those erosional processed occurred much more recen

Episode #050: Wisconsin Glacial Megafloods - Catastrophic Features
25/11/2020 Duration: 01h40minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC and crew talk a bit about sites that they’ll be visiting on their “Southwest Experience” tour out of Sedona, which leads to some reminiscing about prior trips and a retreat that RC attended in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains above the San Luis Valley. Getting back to the “same sediment”, we are reminded of the link between the micro/macro evidence that can assist with the identification of potential impact sites into the ice sheets. Following the path of waterflows on various maps from the Lake Nipigon basin down thru Lake Superior and the massive spillway channels of Minnesota and Wisconsin, we consider the creation of the mass of meltwater-derived features while attempting to grasp the scale of the events that ultimately encompassed the entire planet during the terminal Ice Age catastrophes. Episode #049: Subglacial Floods in Southern British Columbia
14/11/2020 Duration: 01h51minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Looking to continue the discussion on drumlins, RC and crew again attempt to grok the widespread shifts that would have filled the many proglacial lakes and released the catastrophic drainings across the landscapes. What was the chronology of these interrelated events, and could the time-scale be compressed from what has been figured for decades? While making repeated references to the “Missoula Floods” and the accepted story of the ice dam and ever-present strandlines, RC raises perceptive questions that will be probed as we move forward, and link the megafloods to a comprehensive continental catastrophe. We look at sites from our 2017 trip with Jerome Lesemann in south-central British Columbia, digesting his plentiful geologic knowledge and admiring the effects of the subglacial floods across the region. Episode #048: Meandering Meltwater Musings and Lake Agassiz
15/10/2020 Duration: 01h44minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex We look back at last week’s lesson on drumlins from guest Jerome Lesemann, marveling as it seems he did, at the “absolutely astounding” scale of the water-flushed features created at the bed of a continental ice sheet. Many questions remain about the source of the meltwater and the details of massive Glacial Lake Agassiz. Its release thru Big Stone Lake on the Minnesota River has left many clues that we can learn to recognize as features indicating megafloods in other locations. Relict flood channels with “misfit” rivers are difficult to explain with gradualist principles, so attempts by Dury that had to include a paleo-river that was much larger than the modern flow were early indications of a flaw in the Uniformitarian model. Then RC considers Washington’s Palouse Hills as analogous to some of Jerome’s crescentic forms, and finally, shares photos of an impressive site in the Okanogan Valley. Suppor

Episode #047: Drumlins - Flow-form Forensics
08/10/2020 Duration: 02h08minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Jerome Lesemann, from Vancouver Island University, is a drumlin expert, and student and colleague of pioneer of the Meltwater Hypothesis for the formation of drumlins – John Shaw. After some introductory reminiscing, we let Jerome have the floor and educate us about the enigmatic geomorphological features known as drumlins. Their presence far and wide across North America, beneath the former continental ice sheets is put into perspective. Though supported by hydraulic modeling and analogy across seven orders of magnitude, the widespread and various forms’ genesis is still contentious and controversial, hundreds of years after the phenomenon was first observed! The fields of drumlins are SO vast, that the quantities of water necessary to create them all is “absolutely astounding” and the major hurdle to acceptance of the hypothesis. Perhaps the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis will offer a boost to its

Episode #046: Potholes and Mid-continent Megafloods - Lake Agassiz Spillways
02/10/2020 Duration: 01h50minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex While reviewing the events around the catastrophic drainings of Glacial Lake Agassiz, the ongoing question arises: What was the impulse of energy that initiated the domino procession of megafloods? We continue to marvel at the oversized mid-continent spillways in the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin – investigating multiple sites with the “advanced viewer” on the USGS National Map website, with particular focus on the underfit rivers, the massive potholes along the St. Croix (that we explored with Graham Hancock in 2014), and the discharges thru Lakes Nipigon and Superior. RC then broadens the connotations of “lake” to include more temporary impoundments of meltwater, which leads to a critical assessment of the current model of Lake Missoula and its Ice Dam. And in preparation for next episode’s special guest, Jerome Lesemann, we get an introduction to Canada’s extensive drumlin fields… Kosmographi

Episode #045: Phenomenal Ice Age Lake Agassiz and Megaflood Spillways
26/09/2020 Duration: 01h51minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC wonders why there has been no coherent theory that connects all the known megaflood events with the rapid deglaciation from 14.6 – 11.6ka. Lake Agassiz was like an inland sea of fresh water, dwarfing the modern “Great Lakes” that drained off thru multiple routes back to the oceans, in many places with known catastrophic erosion. Massive mid-continent spillways contain the meandering underfit modern rivers, but were once channels for outrageous volumes of meltwater. We question the formation of glacial Lake Missoula and the force that pushed the first domino and initiated the sequence of catastrophes, as we continue to build our vocabulary and grammar that is allowing us to read the language of the landscapes – known as geomorphology. Identical features are on Mars and in stream-beds, illustrating the scale-invariant nature of water doing its work of erosion and deposition. In a final rant during th

Episode #044: Megafloods - MARS, Missoula, Lake Agassiz
13/09/2020 Duration: 01h52minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex As we get deeper into the geomorphic evidence for megafloods, RC provides some historical reference for the evolution of the so-called “Missoula Floods” that were identified in the 1920’s by Harlen Bretz, who traversed the Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington. He called them the Spokane Floods and speculated that the floods came from accelerated melting of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet, but later tentatively accepted the uniformitarian explanation that an ice dam repeatedly formed and released a giant impounded lake from western Montana. We then continue to assess phenomenal Lake Agassiz and its many outflow spillways to the south thru southern Manitoba, the Dakotas and Minnesota, funneling into the channel at Big Stone Lake, and compare some of the identical megaflood features that have been imaged on planet Mars. Episode #043: Geocosmic Clues at Lake Hind - Impact/Floods Linked!
01/09/2020 Duration: 01h53minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex We look again at articles that purport to kill the whole Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis (YDIH) and deem highly credentialed scientists as “outsiders”, while neglecting to report any follow-up that challenges their misleading headlines. As we shift into macro-scale evidence, we’ll show the geomorphic imprints right into the surface of the Earth of gigantic megafloods – meltwater episodes of inconceivably humongous volumes of water discharging off the ice sheets. RC gets us started here with an introduction to massive glacial Lake Agassiz and more details from a 2019 paper on adjacent Lake Hind, at the North Dakota / Manitoba border, and its role as the first site connecting massive flooding and geocosmic impacts… Kosmographia Ep043 The Randall Carlson Podcast with Brothers of the Serpent – Kyle and Russ, Normal Guy Mike and GCREX admin Bradley, from 08/10/20. Episode #042: Volcanic Eruptions "Upend" YD Impacts Evidence?
19/08/2020 Duration: 01h38minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC reviews evidence for nanodiamonds in the Oklahoma Panhandle, with a hint at a more recent and local impact event, and in the eastern margin of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Can nanodiamonds be produced terrestrially? A chart of the Volcanic Explosivity Index leads RC to talk about ash from Mount St. Helens that has been found and dated within the Scablands floods’ rhythmites, and how those were the basis for the theories of repeated Lake Missoula dam-break outburst floods. Then we get into the just-released paper that links the micro-proxies to volcanic eruptions and credits coincident endogenic processes for the Younger Dryas cooling episode, and because the authors do nothing to negate or refute the evidence for a YDB impact, they have a long way to go to prove their case and extrapolate the evidence from Hall’s Cave to the entire planet. Episode #041: Multi-Continent Nanodiamonds and Nay-sayers
11/08/2020 Duration: 01h38minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Randall introduces the most comprehensive paper detailing the findings of nanodiamonds at 24 sites in ten countries across three continents, and then reverts to a 2008 contribution that sought to slam the YDIH as soon as it was presented, noting the odd timing, fallacy-filled arguments and weak statements, but also giving credit for a few things these critics got correct in their paper. We’d like to show them some “spectacular evidence” in the Scablands and prove to them that cosmic “Frankenstein” monsters are very real! More nano-diamond evidence is shared from findings in the Greenland ice sheet and Oklahoma Panhandle as we attempt to nail the coffin of the nay-sayers... Episode #040: Megaflood Appalachian Boulder Fields/Streams
03/08/2020 Duration: 01h39minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex We talk more about the curious character Jeremy, and his role in the past few decades of knowing RC – geologic explorations and his first Carolina Bay overflight, debating Sasquatch and designing drawing compasses – until his recent disappearance into the Pacific Northwest. Multiple adventures into the Appalachians revealed scoured valleys, filled with cobbles and boulders that tell a specific and catastrophic story that most are blind to their signatures and presence. With examples of giant boulder deposits, RC instructs about imbrication and then more into scale-invariant features like sand bars and current ripples, culminating with a few examples of what we’ll see during the fall Scablands tours. An excellent gateway that dabbles into our forthcoming multi-episode journey into megafloods! Episode #039: Meteors & Fireballs - Modern Geocosmic Threats
27/07/2020 Duration: 01h41minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Russ inquires when we’ll be getting into the macro-scale “footprints” of catastrophe, so RC reviews the necessity to get these details and fingerprints covered thoroughly, as we are beginning to make the deliberate segue from the YDB evidence into the megafloods. He shares multiple accounts of meteors and fireballs reported in Popular Astronomy during the early 20th century, culminating with an article about the “Great Fireball Procession of 1913” and projecting what may happen if a “flock of Tunguskas” like this train of clustered objects had come in at a steeper angle and exploded. What larger cosmic forces are acting to periodically influence our solar system? We are just learning of our place in this dynamic and populated cosmic neighborhood, and we should target these orbiting bodies and prepare to utilize the resources that they deliver. Episode #038: Tunguska's Geocosmic Lessons from 1908 Detonation
15/07/2020 Duration: 01h40minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Randall reviews some of the Tunguska witnesses’ extraordinary accounts and shares photos from Leonid Kulik’s team excursions into the blast zone (treks that are worthy of a high-budget movie) as we ponder what forces could have inspired the frightful anecdotes and created the many odd features that remain – some of them reminiscent of Carolina Bays. A quote from Isaac Asimov points out the coincidences of timing and location that allowed it to leave plenty of evidence for study without killing a single human. Scientific observations and secondary effects included seismic and pressure waves, new streams, bright nights across Europe, exotic materials in the soils, and genetic mutations. Episode #037: Tunguska's Terrifying Tales - Geocosmic Lessons 1908 Airburst
07/07/2020 Duration: 01h40minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex In his seemingly round-about but deftly interweaving style, RC collates some of the factors regarding the Younger Dryas and how cosmic lessons from recent events are lending insights that can be applied to solve the mystery. He highlights our unique circumstance with the advancements of technology that we employ to “see” Earth’s ecosystem in the micro to macro scales, and how we can piece together the incomplete human puzzle. Eyewitness accounts from the massive airburst explosion over the Siberian taiga in 1908 provide us the common imagery to link modern science with the myths and legends from our deep past, as we continue to peel away the many layers that obscure us from the knowledge of our true history. 25/06/2020 Duration: 01h39minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC pulls an edge model of a dodecahedron from his bookshelf and the description of its properties evolves into speculation about our planet being engineered and the possibilities of tweaking the system. Then returning to the evidence from the Greenland ice cores for extraordinary continental-scale wildfires, we discuss the possible weather changes that result from landscapes devoid of vegetation – an expansive “Wasteland” that any survivors would have had to navigate, which is an intrinsic motif of the Grail mythos. The widespread biomass-burning is confirmed along with platinum deposition right at the YDB on multiple graphs from numerous locations, as we wind down our detailed inspections of these fingerprints of catastrophe… Kosmographia Ep035 The Randall Carlson Podcast with the Snake Brothers – Kyle and Russ, Normal Guy Mike and GCREX admin Bradley, from 06/10/20. Episode #034: Extraordinary Wildfires - Fingerprints of Catastrophe from High-temp Events
19/06/2020 Duration: 01h30minhttps://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC and crew continue to review and discuss the scientific papers that have compiled evidence in support of a major catastrophe at the Younger Dryas Boundary. The Channel Islands off the southern California coast reveal massive fires and floods at that time and a quick shift from forests to grasslands. We puzzle over critics who attribute the transitions to climate change, but don’t consider what forces may be driving that climate change, which prompts Randall to look at the unlikely hypotheses about the repeated filling and draining of Lake Missoula, asking: What conditions allowed that basin to be filled up to the first order stream level? We then get into a 2018 paper authored by many from the Comet Research Group addressing “Extraordinary Biomass-burning Episode and Impact Winter… ~12,800 years ago.” Kosmographia Ep034 The Randall Carlson Podcast with the Snake Brothers – Kyle and Russ, Normal Guy
