  • Ep.16-Adam Crabill

    03/09/2016 Duration: 53min

EPISODE 16-BEARDING MAN ADAM CRABILL   SEPTEMBER 02, 2016     2016 is the third year for the Bearding Man beard competition in Shippensburgh Pennsylvania.  An event so impressive and full of energy, Shippensburgh can thank organizers, Jason Stauffer and Adam Crabill, for putting this once thriving town-back on the map.  Each year has seen a substantial growth and this year they are expecting well over 266,422,478 pieces of hair to be in attendance for this "hairy" event. I used the word "hairy" in the last sentence because I was trying to be funny and "ironic", maybe trying to get your attention that this event is about hair. The Beardcaster was asked by Jason to be a judge for this years event.  Being part of such an esteemed panel of judges is a dream come true. The podcast has really opened some cool doors for me, and this just one example of the cool things I get to experience because of my podcast.  I feel so grateful that I get to be apart of such a grea

  • Ep.15-NEO Comic Con 2

    22/08/2016 Duration: 33min

The 2nd annual North East Ohio Comic Con, or NEO Comic Con2.0, was held in tight quarters this year. It was sort of a last minute event for the child and I to attend, and was the winner of a toss up between the Pittsburgh Comic convention and this one.  I am fairly certain that I chose wisely by attending this gathering of cos-players, collectors, and fans of all things awesome.  There were no huge names to be found at this event making you fork out tons of cash to let you stand "near" them and get a picture and pay a little extra for a signed head-shot.  This was a one-on-one with creators, writers, artists, and vendors, who were all there for the love of what started as just some cartoons on some news print.  This event really felt "family" and very relaxed compared to some of the other larger events that have occurred around the Cleveland area in years past.  I am already excited for next years event, it is already being promoted to be at an even larger venue.  With the extra space people will be able

  • Ep.14-Eric Zatchok

    18/07/2016 Duration: 57min

Just a few weeks away from our labor of love, Eric Zatchok, and I sit down to discuss a plethora of beard related things.  One of which was the 5th Annual Great Lakes Regional Beard and Mustache Championship presented by Melt Bar and Grilled.  There has been many miles driven, many meetings had, many emails sent, and many hours spent planning this event this year.  We have a lot to be thankful for this year with the help of a lot of great people who have helped both Eric and I put this together.  We talk about how Eric got became interested in growing his beard and then quickly changed gears into event planning and then all about our event coming up on July30th.  Eric is a great guy who really cares about the bearding community and the community that we try and help out.  This year we are working with a local charity, Youth Challenge, and are trying to help them by raising as much money as possible, donate here.   It is a great time to be alive and to live in Cleveland.  There is a lot going on in our hometow

  • Ep.13-Cavaliers Talk

    04/07/2016 Duration: 40min

The guys get together to talk about the Cleveland Cavaliers latest championship win.  Josh and I talk with the child about experiencing his first real championship win being from the area.  Lots of other sports talk was had, sport this, sport that. I thought this episode had some good zingers in it so I thought I would share.  Previously we had already spent over 2 hours recording a bunch of miscellaneous things, so there are a few call backs that may just go over your head!  Hope you enjoy this little taste into the life of The Beardcaster.  If you enjoy the show please consider helping me out and making a donation to my Patreonpage.  It is easy and you can make a tiny donation, or a large one, it all depends what kind of value YOU feel my podcast is worth.  Here is also a few links to some things that you all should check out.  This month is going to be crazy busy and I should have some cool stuff by the end of the month, if not before that.  Keep your eyes peeled!!! • Ep.12- John Cicada

    06/06/2016 Duration: 48min

2016 is the year of the return of the '17 year' cicada.  I remember back to the summer of 1999 and this massive infestation of these incredible insects.  Spending 17 years underground getting ready for right now!!!  Such an interesting experience and learning lesson.  Normally I have a guest on to talk about beard stuff but not this week, I tried to interview multiple cicada's.  I felt this was an amazing situation and a cool "once in a 17 year" experience that I wanted to document.  My son and I went out on Memorial Day with a tip where we could find the first of these visitors to our area.  I recorded a walk through the woods with Lukas and I talking about the 17 year Cicada and trying to capture an exclusive interview with this elusive insect.  Take a listen as I give some really bad information about the cicada and try to get an insect to talk to me.  You can hear the thousands of cicadas 'signing' in the background as we try and unlock the facts of these very interesting creatures that turn our life upsi

  • Ep.11-Anthony Fontes

    22/05/2016 Duration: 01h08min

One of my favorite "beard-o's" in the community, Anthony " The Stache" Fontes joins me for an afternoon of talking about the bearding community.  Anthony and I began our journeys around the same time in the world of facial hair competitions.  Setting lofty goals right off the bat, Anthony has got his personality all over his styles and has delivered in getting he face, and beard, out there.  His approach of style is more of a creative branding of himself and a way to get in front of a completely new audience and share the world of creative facial hair design.  Take a listen and find out how Anthony started off growing, competing, designing, and organizing events in the bearding world.  This was one fun time with a good guy.  He has a great view on the community and interesting thoughts on self promotion.  There are many great stories in this podcast.  Take a listen and take away some excellent insight from one of the communities well known faces and beards.  Thanks to Anthony Fontes and the Wings of Destiny f

  • Ep.9-Santa

    08/04/2016 Duration: 01h01min

Possibly one of the most iconic beards in the history of beards, I was joined by Santa Clause!  A few months of rest makes this jolly fella hungry for some perfectly toasted bread and leads him to Morgan's On The Square in Chardon, Ohio, and to me.  What a perfect time I had asking Santa the "hardball" questions and finding out some cool history of Christopher Kringle.  Possibly one of the most interesting individuals I have ever met, Santa discussed some interesting topics.  We discussed his immense knowledge of UFO lore, Viking beard history, Amish culture, and making children happy.  Old St. Nick was full of fun stories about beards and other assorted historical facts such as his possible influence of Thomas Edison and thirst of money and power.  Sometimes giving coal to those who are all about "power" causes them to turn lemons into lemonade.  Santa talks about the imposters found at the local malls and their lack of commitment to the true spirit of what he is about.  The Beardcaster is all about promotin

  • Ep.7-Dr. Adam Causgrove

    11/03/2016 Duration: 58min

It is that time of year, the induction ceremony into the Mustache Hall of Fame, brought to us by The American Mustache Institute and Wahl Trimmers.  I am joined by Dr. Adam Causgrove, president of The American Mustache Institute, member of the member of the Steel City Beard and Mustache Club, and friend, to discuss the induction and other news in the world of facial hair.  One of the current  hot topics that we discussed was Donald Mattingly and his institution of his "clean shaven" policy for the Marlins this season.  The AMI, American Mustache Institute, has gone to great lengths to protest what the former New York Yankee first baseman is doing to prevent his team from having a "winning season" and the Dr. and I talked about how much of an impact the Institute was actually having on the situation.  We also discussed the Mustache Hall of Fame and what was going on with this years nominations and past winners and dove into what AMI does for "our people".   MUSTACHE HALL OF FAME HELP A STRANGER-CLIFF WALL

  • Ep.6-Jamie Ward

    26/02/2016 Duration: 46min

We all know a guy who grows a beard in the winter time and then shaves in the spring.  Why? Why do these guys grow in this pattern, why can't they just commit to grow all the way, or stay clean shaven all year?  We all have a personal preference in our own growth, be it a goatee, full beard, or a mustache, we grow what we are comfortable with.  A good friend of mine, Jamie Ward, for years has been at the receiving end of my consistent inquiry as to why he grows a magnificent beard and then just shaves it off, year after year.  Are men like this afraid to commit to the "manly" lifestyle that come with being a bearded man 365 days a year, or are they too afraid of the babyface look of shaving everyday.  I wanted to get one mans insight into why he is a "fair weather" beard grower.   Jamie is also a writer for our local paper who writes a lot of sports stories and is also a avid sports fan.  I thought it would be interesting to discuss a few news and  sport related topics that had some type of beard theme.  You
