09/06/2023 Duration: 46minFrom 2002, Eric Klinenberg, author of "Heat Wave: a Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago." The book examines the devastating heat wave in the summer of 1995 in which Chicago saw temperatures as high as 106 degrees over the course of an entire week. It is estimated that 700 people died due to the oppressively hot weather. Klinenberg wanted to understand why the death rate was so high in certain neighborhoods and in certain sectors of the population.
