Sonny Is Back Home!
15/03/2022 Duration: 01minAs some of you may know, I had the opportunity to spend a week in Poland as a result of our KCBI Day Of Hope with my new friends, Texas Baptist Men. I am pleased to let you know that I am home safe and I can’t wait to continue to share the stories I’ve experienced of the brave souls who have been God’s hands and feet in action for the Ukrainian refugees. They brought carloads of people into Poland, they offered a warm bed, hot meal, a shower, and protection to those who left everything behind. May God continue to bless their efforts. Thank you my KCBI & Texas Baptist Men for this experience I will never forget!

Lets "Give Up" Together
02/03/2022 Duration: 01minToday marks the first day of Lent but maybe you're wondering what does that mean for me? Lent is the beginning of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and generosity that ends on the Thursday, known as Holy Thursday, leading up to Easter. And it’s more than just giving up sweets or meat. It’s to go without something that you’d miss, something you need to rely on God to fill the void for. I have an idea: What if we gave up some things, together?During Lent this year, how about we both give up resentment and become more forgiving? Let's give up hatred and when we face evil, let's give back good. Let's give up complaining and each day focus on what we have to be grateful for. Let's give up pessimism and become more hopeful. Let's give up anger and become more patient with our loved ones. I guess what I'm saying is, let's give up us and let's pick up God. Let's do this together.

A Blessing Of Changed Perspective
28/02/2022 Duration: 01minAfter 2 full months of long distance living, my wife and I are finally all moved in to our home in Dallas!! Lesson learned: always get a truck that’s too big rather than too small. If not, you might have to sell and giveaway a bunch of your stuff that just wouldn't fit. But in middle of having to say goodbye to some of our belongings, there actually ended up being a few blessings, like Amber.Amber bought our bedroom set of a dresser, nightstand, and queen mattress, frame and headboard for under $150 and we used the moving truck to deliver it to her house (talk about a deal!). Once we were there, Amber wanted to show off the home she would be moving into, and honestly it looked as if no one had lived there in years. I started to feel bad for her, but from room to room Amber showed off her house with joy and finally turned, looked at us with the biggest smile and said, "and it’s all mine." Suddenly my wife and I looked at each other and just smiled because in that moment, we could see the beauty in Amber’s home

What A Balloon Can Teach Us About Happiness
14/02/2022 Duration: 01minIf you remember one thing from today, I hope it's a balloon. Random, I know. But I have a story. There's a teacher who wanted to make a point to her students. So she went out, bought a bunch of balloons, and distributed them to every student in the entire school. From there, he asked each student to blow up their balloons, write their name on them, and throw it into a hallway. Teachers then went in and mixed up the balloons. After they were done, the students were given 5 minutes to go out and retrieve the balloon with their name on it. Despite a impassioned search, not a single student was able to find their own balloon. But what happens next is absolutely mind-blowing.The teachers then told their students to pick up the balloon closest to them and give it to the person it belonged to. Given the same amount of time, 5 minutes, every student in the school had the balloon with their name on it back in hand! Isn't that crazy? The point of the experiment was this: The balloons were supposed to signify happiness.

Moms Are Warriors
11/02/2022 Duration: 01minThanks for the company on 90.9 KCBI! I am honored to be married to my best friend for 25 years now, she’s still my crush, the mother of our child, in fact I flirt with her too much she said. She told me “if you never complimented me another day in my life I already know how you feel,” and when I saw another brother in-Christ share his love for his wife and how he compliments her daily I had to share it with you. He said, “as men we often take for granted the sacrifice women have to make during the 9-month pregnancy process. Her body goes through unbelievable change. She will be at risk of several different health issues, her eating habits may increase, her moods may swing, her sleeping patterns may adjust, her self-esteem may even take a hit, and most importantly her life may be at risk as she gives birth. We men unfairly expect her body to snap back in place, she may be left with battle marks and scars. She may try to hide them; she may struggle with feeling attractive. But the reality is, her body brought

Don't Give Up, Keep Praying
25/01/2022 Duration: 01minMy name is Sonny and I’ve had a few people say that I live up to my name, which is an honor, but I come from a family of prayer warriors. My mom, my aunts, my cousins would lift me in prayer in my knucklehead days asking God to protect me as I was living a very wayward lifestyle. Then God sent me a woman who was truly filled with grace, a woman who I believe was sent the calm the savage beast inside of me, my best friend and wife of 25 years. I share all of this to say, if you have a loved one who has veered away from God, keep praying for them, don’t give up. It doesn’t matter how far they, or you, have run. Once God’s grace gets into your heart, a transformation of the best kind happens, and to that you can only say, “To God be the glory!”Thankful to get to do life with you on 90.9 KCBI!

Your Pain Matters
14/01/2022 Duration: 01minDoes life hurt?I saw this post from a Daniell Koepke that I believe someone needs to hear this afternoon. She said, “Your trauma is valid. Even if other people have experienced “worse”. Even if someone else who went through the same experience doesn’t feel debilitated by it. Even if it ‘could have been avoided’. Even if it happened a long time ago. Even if no one knows. Your trauma is real and valid, and you deserve a space to talk about it. It isn’t desperate or pathetic or attention-seeking. It’s self-care. It’s inconceivably brave. And regardless of the magnitude of your struggle, you’re allowed to take care of yourself by processing and unloading some of the pain you carry. Your pain matters. Your experience matters. And your healing matters. Nothing and no one can take that away.” Remember, if life hurts, we pray with you and for you at KCBI.org, click the Prayer Center, and let’s pray together

A Valuable Lesson
22/12/2021 Duration: 01minI have a story for you.A college professor walks in his classroom started off his lecture by holding up a $100.00 bill. In the room of 200 students, he asked, “Who would like this $100 bill?” Hands flew up in the air. He said, “I am going to give this $100 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the $100 dollar bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it…?” Still the hands were up in the air. He replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air.The professor responds, “No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $100. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, y
